The Guantanamization of Townville |

A few days ago, in a Southern US city, I happened to see a TV ad for a local office. I don't remember which office, or the candidates' names, and they don't matter.
What matters is the ad's content:
Candidate X (incumbent, front runner): While I've spent my career getting tough on crime, my opponents (click to side by side pics of opponents)
are criminal defense attorneys, working hard to keep drug dealers and child molestors out of jail.
I wonder if the author of the recent article, "The Guantanamization of America," saw that ad.
Now I don't claim to know anything about this candidate - or his opponent's - records, or their positions on the issues, but his ad, and the fact that there has been no public outcry over it that has spilled over into the national media tells me a lot more about him - and his constituents - than than the thickest of white papers ever could.
on edit: I posted this in here because it is about a campaign, though not the Presidential campaign, but if anyone feels it should go in the General Discussion forum, please ask the site administrators to move it there.
