Santa Cruz Sentinel endorses Kerry 2004! (Bush 2000)

Santa Cruz Sentinel endorses Kerry 2004! (Bush 2000)
It's a weak endorsement, but the Sentinel is a right-leaning newspaper. And it seems to me that "squandered his credibility" means Bush is a liar.

ELECTION: Despite misgivings, we feel the time has come for a change in the White House.

President Bush has taken this country to war, an action that resulted in quick military victory followed by months of horrifying bombings, beheadings and murder of both American troops and Iraqi citizens.

The cost of the war has harmed America, and we have come to believe that America’s image in the world has been tarnished.

The president squandered much of his credibility when his administration’s initial justification for invading Iraq was proved, at best, misleading. To further erode confidence in our efforts in Iraq, the Bush administration’s management of the post- war situation in that country seemingly has ranged from chaotic to inept.

We think Bush’s decisions and the decisions of his administration do not earn him an endorsement for re-election. We recommend his opponent, Sen. John Kerry.
