I love that DUers have come together for Kerry/Edwards!
Remember how divisive it was during the primaries? Remember all the pro/anti-Nader stuff? Now it seems as if we're firing on all cylinders, ready to send that cowboy back to Crawford!

Cheers to DU and its denizens! :toast:

1. I also love the fact we are united
That's why it gets me so mad listening to the news chatter. I really don't think this is ABB anymore. Kerry has proven himself a strong leader.

3. Great post
Yes it is great to see us all come together. Wouldn't it be a hoot to have a DU convention.

5. I knew it would be this way in the end
We all had different people we were supporting in the primaries, but DU'ers have far more in common than not. We're all determined to get Bush out of office and the more most of us learn about Kerry the more we love him.

I love how we've come together so well too. Things were tense sometimes during the primaries... but then again, that's what makes us Democrats. We debate, we disagree, we think things through - but in the end, we're all working towards a common goal.

*sappy group hug*

6. Yes!
It's great to see so much unity.

I was a little reluctant to do much for Kerry at first, but then I saw that he was a really good candidate.

7. Feels great, don't it?
I really found myself as a Democrat this year. In the past, I'd always been one of those people sitting on the sidelines, taking pot shots at both candidates, saying that neither was really any better.

This year I realized that I was wrong. It does matter. It matters a lot. And the differences between the candidates and their respective parties are huge.

This year I woke up. Now I can say it: I'm a Democrat, this is my party, and John Kerry is my candidate and our next president. I couldn't be more excited about the next four years!

24. It takes a LOT of guts and character to say announce you were wrong.
Even more to come to that realization and accept it within yourself. Denial is so much easier! And utter refusal is in the Oval Office, for heaven's sakes!

You are to be greatly admired, calmblueocean. I'm sure some people still haven't arrived at that realization. You have. You've faced it, and you gave a damn enough to do something about it. You are to be applauded loudly for that.

I tell ya, DU is not just any ol' website or chat room. This is a THINK TANK. Another thread here testifies to it - Elizabeth Edwards reads here, for heaven's sakes! We ARE making a difference. I remember coming here originally, and everybody was pretty down and out - it was in 2001, so of course we were. That was back in the days of "bush is omnipotent, bush is invincible, nothing and nobody could possibly beat mr. 90% approval rating. We stuck together, built together, strategized together, strutted our stuff together, and stood out. There are MANY members of distinction here, who weigh in when people have questions or seek background info. There are MANY people here who are internet-savvy and contribute like gangbusters. We've got research expertise here like nobody's business. You say "got a link?" and all of a sudden, material pops up from everywhere. People come here and turn into genies, as though this were one huge magic Alladin's Lamp. I am proud to be a member myself. I'm proud to read your posts, calmblueocean, and to savor your growing wisdom and insight. Your post is a delight. Posts like yours make this whole site a delight. I think we may be more of an important grass-roots force for Democratic Party success than ANY of us realizes.

KUDOS to you, calmblueocean, and everybody else here. When John Kerry wins, and takes the oath of office, he'll be there in no small part because of folks like us, and all the work we've done.

30. I've got the biggest grin on my face.
It's posts like yours that drew me to reading DU, and eventually to sign up. And every day I come here and get energized knowing there are so many others out there taking the fight to Bush. DU is a great place to be.

The best thing about DU is our rational optimism. When you visit FreeRepublic, all you see is hate and venom and anger. Instead of optimism, they have arrogance. It feels poisonous there. So ugly.

At DU, when one of us questions, the rest of us answer. We build up our spirits by building up our minds. We're at the cusp of the rebirth of the Democratic party and the defeat of conservatism as a social force in our society. I love being a part of that.

9. it really is nice
Glad to see that the Kerry I see now is the same one I saw in the primaries, a great guy who is truly the antidote to Bush. Hell I don't care that he takes a moderate rheotric, I know he's more liberal than moderate, and he shares my personal values as well which I like a lot.

11. Nader
Once I read a few books (Bushwacked most notably) I became focused and 3rd party candidates dropped off my radar screen.

I voted for Nader in 2000 but it seems progressives, liberals, etc. all feel affronted by this Administration and have come together.

I'm still convinced that Kerry is the lesser of two evils but on the evil scale, Bush is 100 pts. evil and Kerry is 10 pts. evil. You'd have to be insane and a bit too idealistic, in my opinion, to vote for Nader this time. He won't win and we'll just have someone with more principles that our contrary to what we want.

Didn't we have some AWFUL fights during the primaries? And then the VP search.

But here we are now. Back in love again.

15. I just hate
that I hadn't joined earlier. I've been busy debating conservatives on their boards. Doing that makes you feel like a small minority, esp. when you live in a southern state.

Feels great to be here.

20. Anybody going to the inauguration?
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 05:31 PM by Ky For Kerry
I have told my family that come January I am headed to DC. Won't have a ticket to a darn event - and I don't care. I will be along the parade route, I'll stand outside the capital during the oath taking and I'll dance in the street all night long while all the balls are going on. I just want to be at the epicenter to see our country return to truth and justice and democracy. I'm gonna party, celebrate and cheer the return of decency. Anybody else going?

27. Dear KY For Kerry. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
I wish I could be there, but, for a variety of reasons, I can't. Please, dance in the streets for me.

Just one thing. We gotta win first. And if these thugs steal it again, we need a plan B.

Nonetheless, I've just gotta love your faith in the inevitability of righteousness.

We've completely united...just like the Democratic Party itself...behind these two good men, John Kerry and John Edwards. It is such a great feeling.

Another round of cheers to DU and all DU'ers!

21. But one thing everyone needs to keep in mind.
We need a landslide for Kerry. These Republican thugs will do everything in their power to steal it again.

Get out there, drag people to the polls, nag your neighbors, try talking to moron relatives and friends.

The stakes couldn't be higher. == Kerry, or full blown fascism. -- And if you don't agree with the full blown fascism part, show me where I'm wrong based on the past four Bush/Cheney/Ashcroft/Rove years.

If you don't get it yet, you deserve whatever you get. But the rest of us don't. We'll just be gas-chamber fodder.

22. This is what makes the Democrats the stronger party
through the primary process we actually get to pick our own candidate for president. The repugs make their deals behind the scenes and the party faithful have to accept whoever the party chooses for them.

I've been ABB since the beginning. My guy didn't make it this time, but I'd be clinically insane to want Bush to win because Dean's not up there.

32. Thanks for you support of Kerry/Edwards
I watched Edwards win the election in N.C., and said to my self he is going places in politics, and when you gave Kerry hell, I thought things worked our best with Edwards being second on the ticket, not that I didn't think he could handle the job of being president, but I knew that the republicans would beat him with the thing of not being experienced enough, and I saw in Kerry from day one what the nation say in him during the three debates, I think this is the best ticket and Edwards is young, he can still be president, with the help of Clark and all the others we are going to be a winner and a most successfully administration, we might even rival the Clinton administration..with a growing economy, and the end to the terrorist attacks on the nation...Kerry is more than capable to handle the nation and our problems, and far more intelligent and able to think things through before coming to a big decision....Thanks to all of you democrats.
