A Kerry endorsement for your fence-sitting (or Koolaid-drinking) friends
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 06:09 PM by scottxyz
There´s an editorial endorsing Kerry in the Des Moines Register which could be the kind of article that gets emailed all around the internet.

This editorial is great for 3 reasons:

(1) It sounds calm and level-headed - not "shrill".

(2) It points out how Kerry on live TV demolished the Republican caricature of him - and politely implies that Bush is all swagger and no policy.

(3) It reminds people that Bush has been more "liberal" than anyone on two key conservative issues - runaway spending and deficits and more Federal government on our backs.

If you have conservative friends that need persuading, this could be the editorial that could sway them. I think if you´re just mailing it to a few friends, you can legally quote the whole thing rather than just sending the URL.

The president, whose swagger in adversity and plain-folks straight talk can be so appealing, has failed to see the reality of the problems or outline a road map for progress for the next four years.

It's time to see Kerry as the person he is, not as the caricature created in the president's campaign ads.

Kerry won the presidential debates because the man Americans saw on live television differed from the caricature. Americans saw a thoughtful, experienced, exceptionally well-informed candidate who cares deeply about his country and its people....

Yes, Kerry is liberal. But what's to fear from a liberal president? That he would run big deficits? That he would increase federal spending? That he would expand the power of the federal government over individuals' lives? Nothing Kerry could do could top what President Bush has already done in those realms.

2. Defusing the "liberal" word is very important
Bush´s main weapon has been to call Kerry a "liberal".

It´s the only weapon Bush has, since he can´t run on his own pathetic record, or attack Kerry´s.

It so easy to take the "L" word away from Bush - just point out that he spends money like a drunken sailor and wants the Federal government crawling all over us - exactly the things that get lots of "conservatives" and "libertarians" pissed off.

All we need to do is peel away a few people from Bush - the people who don´t like deficits, the people who don´t like government in their lives, and the people who prefer Facts over Faith - and Bush is a goner.

Remind Bush supporters that Bush is one of the biggest "liberals" in history when it comes to spending and government interference.

3. That's the best paragraph of all,
and that should be used in every piece of Kerry campaign literature from now on and it should be emailed to every single freeper and republican in the country!
