Hey, give me the "Kerry Just Won Ohio" Bullshit on Nov 3rd. |

Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 07:00 PM by Cyrano
Stop the polling and early voting crap.
And stop getting everyone worked up over Ohio.
If the election were held today and all the votes were counted, Kerry would win big.
But the fact is that every prick Republican lawyer is out there working on negating any vote cast for Kerry.
Let's talk about who "won Ohio" after we win Ohio. In the meantime, cut the rhetoric and keep getting people out to vote.

5. How are you dealing with the Republican "challengers?" |
|
Can you get an injunction to stop them from holding up the line?
They should be pulled aside when they challenge someone, so the line keeps moving.

according to the information I've read (here and in news reports) if a person is challenged he is taken away from the polling station and out of earshot of the challenger. He is then asked several questions by the presiding elections officer. If he satisfies the officer that he is eligible he is allowed to vote. I am unclear if the voter must sign an affidavit in all challenge situations or if all challenged voters ballots must be ruled as provisional or if only those successfully challenged but still insistent on voting must be provisional.
As for the challenger causing disruptions and delays, the persiding officer has it in his or her power to kick the challenger out if deemed disruptive of the orderly voting process.
Dems will have challengers and watchers to help ensure that this process does not unduly impede the voting and that all eligible voters get to vote. A phone bank of lawyers will also be available for consultation and rapid responce to "hot spots".

8. OK, I hope you're able to stop them from slowing the line, and |
|
if a Republican challenger is particularly obnoxious, put his or her photo on the internet.

With early voting now happening in a bunch of states people who half listen or who are too busy to immerse themselves into the ins and outs of a political season believe that the polls are actually early voting results.

6. I should have replied to that other thread immediately |
|
I clicked on the "We just won Ohio" thread when it was brand new, and saw Bush's name at the bottom of the supposed ballot. That was obviously against state law and tradition, so I rejected the ballot as phony and the thread as irrelevant. Then I come back and there were 90+ replies.
Someone finally mentioned the order of the candidate names at very bottom before the thread was locked.
