You can blame me for posting this but I think it is great that it is gettng some press time. You guys need to work on spreading the news rather than saying its old. If it helps our collective cause then don't whine, just spread the news and get more undecides to read the story in the NYTimes.

13. Because we prevented the UN from monitoring the stuff
Failure to cooperate with the UN (and particularly with IAEA) is now directly died to half of American casualties and probably thousands of Iraqi deaths, like all those children blown up two weeks ago.

4. US lets Saddam's explosives get looted
Not good for Bush, if you ask me.

From Talking Points Memo:
This has been rumored in Washington for several days. And now the Nelson Report has broken the story.

Some 350 tons of high explosives (RDX and HMX), which were under IAEA seal while Saddam was in power, were looted during the early days of the US occupation. Like so much else, it was just left unguarded.

Not only are these super-high-yield explosives probably being used in many, if not most, of the various suicide and car bombings in Iraq, but these particular explosives are ones used in the triggering process for nuclear weapons.

In other words, it's bad stuff.

What also emerges in the Nelson Report is that the Defense Department has been trying to keep this secret for some time. The DOD even went so far as to order the Iraqis not to inform the IAEA that the materials had gone missing. Informing the IAEA, of course, would lead to it becoming public knowledge in the United States.

8. Better O. Surprise than theirs!
Dayum. Seems to me that this news would trump the alleged anti-Kerry crap in the Wash. times, doesn't it? Esp. since many seem to think the anti-Kerry one is about events of some 30 years ago!

12. What sinks Bush on this
is not so much the incompetence, tho there's that, but the fact that there has been an orchestrated COVERUP of this information

14. Why is this "HUGE" ? from the above I gather that it's been
suspected for quite some time. And given that Bush supporters are in Abe Lincon's "some of the people all of the time" category, they won't be swayed by mere facts. The "undecideds" will have to have someone yell this in their ears and explain what the big deal is, but even if someone does, they may just put their fingers on their chins and say "....IIII don't know ...."

I'm not typical. I am numb to any accusations so far as having legs. I mean if there were a lesbian intern involved ...
Just a bumper sticker - why is this big enough to sway undecideds
who will only read the headlines?

16. Everyone inside the beltway, get in a doorway
Hold on to something because tectonic plates are going to shift.

Marshall's snips had multiple sources and I hope to goodness some of them went on record. I wouldn't want to be around when the marines hear about this one... :nuke:

18. This story is enormous!! No question.
Yes, Kerry mentioned it, but this is much more specific and detailed and directly links Bush's gross negligence and incompetence to the deaths of our troops. And this comes a week after Pat Robertson reported Bush said there would be no casualties. It all goes together. The bottom line is BUSH DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE F'CK HE IS DOING AND IT HAS ENORMOUS CONSEQUENCES IN DEATH AND DESTRUCTION!!

I feel sorry for the troops who have already voted. I am sure after this many would change their vote.

How can the troops trust him after this?
