Why the Iraq explosives story is so bad for Bush--hurt by their own lies!
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 10:13 AM by geek tragedy
They don't even know when (according to their story) the weapons disappeared.

Folks, this is worse than letting the weapons disappear, politically.

They paid so little attention to these weapons that they NEVER bothered to account for them. Ever. (According to their version of events)

It was the IAEA and the Iraqi provisional government who finally "alerted" Condi Rice to their disappearance. (According to their version of events)

Of course, they did know about the disappearance earlier, and had they fessed up to the UN at the time, this wouldn't be an election issue. It was incompetence, but it wouldn't have stood out.

It's always the COVERUP that screws the evildoers.

1. Their explanation/excuse is even lamer...
The official White House statement on this says something to the effect that there have been a lot of these sites looted already because the U.S. couldn't secure them all, and that "you can get that stuff anywhere", blah-de-blah.

Can you believe this crap? In their efforts to excuse it, they actually make themselves look even worse, i.e. admitting they didn't send in enough troups to secure these sites, that this wasn't the only one, and then tried to play down the significance of it by saying "you can get this stuff anywhere".

These folks are REALLY losing it. All their words need to be used against them in the court of public opinion... and RIGHT NOW!!!!

2. No no, the WH has just said Conodi found out a month ago...
They haven't claimed that nobody in the administration was aware of it earlier.

There was a cover-up, that's going to trickle out. Finally the Iraqi authorities decided to tell the IAEA, who (as is officially done) let the coalition know because they're responsible for it.

Don't be fooled and think for ONE SECOND that the coalition (Bush admin) didn't know long before last month!

They basicaly admitted it in the NYT story by saying they knew it went missing after the invasion. To believe that they didn't check on these explosives since the invasion is a tough one to swallow, which is what you'd have to believe if you believe last month was the first time they found out!

5. Exactly!
They're caught in a web of their own lies.

Of course Condi knew a long time ago. But that would mean that the admin lied to and thwarted the UN weapons inspectors in covering this up.

Which is why we invaded Iraq.

3. A lie that has gone unnoticed
Yesterday, when the first news of the mass killing of Iraqi Security police was released, there were a reported 70 graduates on the buses, but the next reports state that there were 44 graduates killed and 4 bus drivers, meaning that there are now 22 people missing in this equation. The press reports that this may be an inside job, but the administration may be trying to cover up exactly how inide

7. Lets see,
We invaded Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction so when we got there we could let the insurgents steal the explosives to make the weapons of mass destruction having the protection of the American troops there to insure nobody would know they took them.

Right, I have it now.
