Poll: Presidential Race Too Close To Call In Arkansas
Kerry Surges Into Virtual Tie With Bush; Nader Has 1 Percent Support

POSTED: 1:16 pm CDT October 25, 2004
UPDATED: 1:30 pm CDT October 25, 2004

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A recent poll showed Monday that the presidential race in Arkansas is too close to call.

The survey by Opinion Research Associates of Little Rock, which worked on behalf of the Arkansas News Bureau and Stephens Media Group, shows President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry each with 48 percent support from likely voters. The survey was taken last Monday through Wednesday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percent.

Populist Party candidate Ralph Nader had 1 percent, and 3 percent were undecided.

Two weeks before, the same poll showed Bush with a 52 percent to 43 percent advantage, which was still within the margin of error.

This is the second poll showing Kerry surging into a tie with George W. Bush.

1. Polls are always faulty, but you've gotta love the trends.

2. Is Clinton making an appearance in Arkansas the biggest no-brainer ever?

4. clinton
We need him to focus on Arkansas, Iowa, Wisconsin

If we can get ARkansas, then it is a win for Kerry
Gore did not get AR last time

5. No brainer
but I haven't heard that the Kerry campaign is sending him.

Really, Wes Clark should do multiple rallies in Ark, and Missouri. We win EITHER one of those states, it's lights out.

People love Clark! Send him and the Big Dog to Arkansas!

3. This would be amazing

I think General Clark could make some headway down there.

In my projection map, I have Arkansas going Bush. If we win this state, then it gives us margin for error in other states.

I believe we will pick up Nevada and New Hampshire from the * roll from 2000.

If we split FLA and Ohio, we need to cover Iowa and Wisconsin. But Arkansas means maybe we can let Wisco or Iowa get away, not sure of the Numbers.

7. that is definitely for sure...went with my spouse to vote today--
and the line was OUT THE DOOR AND DOWN THE SIDEWALK INTO THE PARKING LOT! UNBELIEVABLE! I voted last Wednesday and I came back and posted here how crowded it was and that I had to wait for an hour to vote, but holy mother of God! Unbelievable. This is the first election my husband has voted in (sad, sad, sad) and he didn't get to vote today because it was almost time for the polls to close, however, he said he will stand in line and will make sure he casts his vote.

Unbelievable, simply unbelievable.
