Why is CNN attributing idea that explosives were there to "Kerry camp"?
??

And they also said that Karl Rove is so confident in the NBC report (which I have yet to see) that he's planning on sending it to Bush supporters on the net.

Karl Rove? He's the one with the NBC report? Is he the only one who's seen it so far?

Good job, CNN. That network is really taking a credibility hit this election, holy shit.

5. I'm giving you basically verbatim what I'm hearing on CNN.
On "in the news" piece on the explosives, they put it in terms of "Bush camp" vs. "Kerry camp".

"Bush camp" says NBC report proves that explosives were gone.

"Kerry camp" sticks by it's story that they were there.

And Karl Rove is "so confident" in the NBC report he's considering emailing it to "Bush supporters".

11. The KERRY CAMP needs to handle this differently!
Rethuglicans seize on small details to derail us from the greater points ... it's a tactic abusive people use all the time. The trouble begins when WE fall for it.

Bush's defense is that the troops tried to secure the area right away. So friggin what?! THE BOTTOM LINE IS: Kerry was right, inspections first ... war as a LAST resort!

12. NBC has backed away from the report they keep quoting
NBC said yesterday afternoon, "we had a reporter in first group at the site. april 10, he didn't see explosives". They have since learned from a pentagon leak, that US troops were there in late March, and the seals were intact, and the bunker was full. The US forces moved on, without bothering to guard or destroy the cache.

NBC pulled its original report from its site, and put up the later pentagon report.

Both sides get a NBC report to quote. Unfortunately for the repub's, the NBC report they like has been pulled from the site. So they quote CNN's quote of NBC.

Personally, I'd like to email CNN and put a curse on them: "May you never have access to the Kerry White House. Ptewi!"

21. But the NBC report AGREES WITH KERRY
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 11:21 AM by LynnTheDem
The NBC report DOES NOT SAY ALL EXPLOSIVES WERE GONE.

That is a LIE that CNN is saying the NBC rpeort says. IT DOESN'T SAY THAT!!!

NBC NEVER SAID THAT!

I HAVE EVERY NBC REPORT on the topic; they said their embedded reporter DIDN'T SEE any explosives, but she DIDN'T LOOK FOR ANY and if she had, she wouldn't have known what to look for anyways.

NBC ALSO reported the Pentagon official who said the explosives were there at Al QaQaa AND INTACT atin April 2003.

NBC DID NOT EVER report that there were no explosives in Al QaQaa. NEVER!!!

But CNN is LYING and saying NBC did say that. NO THEY DIDN'T SAY THAT!!!

4. Him and that darn "intellectualism" of his!!!
How dare he actually pay attention to what the hell's going on around him and *gasp* talk about it! Let's ignore the fact that these warnings had been coming out for over a year, and that it was the UN that finally made it public because Dimson didn't seem to care that the stuff was missing, it's Kerry's fault!

Besides...he said Mary Cheney was a lesbian!!! And he speaks French!!!

7. F***ing bastards - instead of working to discover the truth...
...they insist on playing it as just another political debate between the candidates. C'mon, CNN - who cares what the "Kerry camp" is saying - what really happened? I mean, you're a news organization, I always thought, not a steno service for the two campaigns. What really happened?

10. The word is out; the damage is done.
The story hit hard, and with a week to go, any spin that Rove/bu$h* try to put on it will look as pathetic as it is.

If this gets one more day of play (Tuesday) it'll be time for Kerry to take back the agenda and move on.

17. Yes, we learned that didn't we
The one out first has the public's first attention. Some later may learn something different (or think they are, especially if it supports their side) but it's hard to fight that initial impression.

A plus for us, versus someone like O'Neill, is that we also have truth on our side.

Allies Find Signs of Iraq's Chemical Preparedness
Friday, April 04, 2003
As the military advances closer to Baghdad, signs of Iraqi chemical preparedness are multiplying, although there is still no conclusive evidence Saddam Hussein's regime possesses weapons of mass destruction.

On Friday, troops at a training facility in the western Iraqi desert came across a bottle labeled "tabun" -- a nerve gas and chemical weapon Iraq is banned from possessing.

Closer to Baghdad, troops at Iraq's largest military industrial complex found nerve agent antidotes, documents describing chemical warfare and a white powder that appeared to be used for explosives.

U.N. weapons inspectors went repeatedly to the vast al Qa Qaa complex -- most recently on March 8 -- but found nothing during spot visits to some of the 1,100 buildings at the site 25 miles south of Baghdad.

Col. John Peabody, engineer brigade commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, said troops found thousands of 2-by-5-inch boxes, each containing three vials of white powder, together with documents written in Arabic that dealt with how to engage in chemical warfare.<snip>

19. On Wolf: Barbara Starr at the Pentagon just dropped the ball also.
She's taking the NBC report as proof, no questions asked.

So...the "facts" then are that the stuff dissappeared between the IAEA visit in March and the 101st Airborne w/NBC embed on April 10th.

In her mind, the only question then is how did they dissappear in that time frame.

No questioning of the other reported Pentagon source.

No questioning of the NBC report.

This ain't over.

22. The NBC report IS FINE.
What she's missing out is the US MILITARY REPORT and HUNDREDS of MEDIA reports.

The MILITARY reported finding THOUSANDS of boxes of "white powder" in Al Qaqaa on APril 4, 2003.

That "white powder" tested out to be the EXPLOSIVES and every media on the planet REPORTED that on April 5, 2003.

So on April 4, 2003 the explosives WERE THERE.

The NBC reporter said she and the military DID NOT LOOK FOR ANYTHING at Al QaQaa on April 10, 2003.

So they MAY have still been there on April 10..or not...but they WERE THERE on April 4, 2003.

And that is AFTER BUSH'S INVASION.
