Anyone get feeling some Repukes want Bush to lose
Not the right wing nuts from freeperland, but I very much get sense that there some congressional republicans that dont' want Bush to win. They can't say so or campaign against him because they would never be re-elected, but I think some Republican legislators can do without Bush.

I won't name names, but there are an awful lot of leaks, and an awful lot of sources out there that sound like Repubs.

It may be from CIA or Pentagon, but all this budget stuff got me thinking. We know that once electon is over it is going to be a bloddy fight in thr GOP over fiscal conservatives and tax-cut and spend Neo-Cons.

How many congressional republicans have been out there campaigning for Bush? How many had major roles in the convention?

Where is John Mccain? I'd give a couple of bucks to be in the voting booth with him on election day.

2. If so then the neo-cons have something else up their sleeve....
...as the dominionists and Pat Robertson dominate the republican party they will take the presidency no matter what <see the DU link on the tactics of the Dominionists>

6. Here is my thought
Okay here some names,

Some repubs who may not go for Bush, or wouldn't mind him losing.

Shortlist

1. McCain
2. Chafee (said not voting for * anyway)
3. Olympia Snow
4. Christie Todd Whitman (not around anymore, but still wonder who she really supports)

And, a boatload of Repubs in the house from the northeast. Civil war is coming in the GOP, very soon.

4. I'm beginning to think BUSH doesn't want Bush to win
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 12:16 AM by liburl
Especially after seeing the gay civil unions comments, Powell's comments on Taiwan/China, and Bush making last ditch stops in Dem areas.

It occurred to me today when I heard he's requesting more troops in Iraq (Kerry's plan) that 1) That's a good thing because it advances things for Kerry and 2) he thinks he going to lose.

Maybe he's decided he can't fix the mess both foreign and domestic so the least he can do is start working on Kerry's plans. (BTW, he's been moving closer to each of Kerry's plans on managing things all along.)

7. I wonder this myself.
I honestly sometimes think that perhaps the Republicans want to take Bush out on a "high note". Meaning they know he simply cannot survive the ravages of a second term and remain anywhere near popular. So much is falling around their ankles now. I've begun to feel it's not beyond possibility that they want Kerry in as a scapegoat to get the blame for all their problems. Then perhaps Bush would run again in 2008, or more likely, the Republicans would make Bush their Reagan-proxy and figurehead, hauling him out at conventions to give motivational speeches recalling his golden days of American unity and the way the Republican party's "freedom loving" vision was robbed and stifled by Democrats.

I think it will be important for us to frame the "mess" Kerry has to deal with when he becomes president, and make sure expectations are low. Bush screwed up our nation and the world so completely that it will take many presidents to undo it.

It'll be interesting to see how both parties rearrange after this election.

9. Iraq is looking really bad
and they probably know that the worst is yet to come. I think quite a few Republicans do not want to be holding the bag next year. Bush losing means that they can blame Kerry for whatever comes.
