Looking at www.electoral-vote.com, a couple things come to mind. First, no way we lose MI and NJ. Add those to Kerry's column, so he would have 275 EVs right there. However, I think Ohio will also go blue, and Florida, at this point, is not a sure bet, so lets say that it goes red on us. Then, we're down to 268 EVs. The key from there is then to turn one other state blue. IA, AR, and HI are key targets there. I say that we should keep Kerry in the midwest and Florida for the rest of this thing, and send Edwards to HI if need be. My hope is that the KE04 tracking polls show a different outcome than Electoral Vote in Hawaii because it would stink to fight the election out there because of the inefficiency involved.

2. I am doing my aprt for Ohio, lots of street canvassing AND

I am burning 50 CDs of the new Eminem song which is not yet released. I am giving copies to young Kerry supportes like VoteMob, Young Voter Alliance and anyone sporting lots of Kerry stickers on their car asking them to play the song in high foot traffic/hang out type areas. Also asking inner city CD stores to play it. Mosh is our anthem!

3. Ohio is key, but we need more than that

So far as I can tell, we are likely going to cough up NM. IA, WI, and MN are possible as well, although some are not entirely probable at this time. If they go red, that would cost us 32 EVs, and Ohio plus NH only offset 24 of that total.

My point is that the battleground situation is rather fluid and depends on turnout. If we GOTV like we hope, I am not worried, but, if we don't, it is going to be tough to win only picking up OH and NH. Of course, it is also possible that we bat 1.000 with PA, OH, and FL, but I think Kerry et al. need to plan as if FL is going to stay red and work their tails off to flip-flop it to blue. Point is that we can win without Florida, but we can't win if we don't hold serve in WI and MN at least. Mathematically, we can cough up Iowa as long as we win OH and NH.
