Any idea how the crowd sizes have been the last 2 days? CNN seems to be |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 09:27 PM by jezebel
inferring a drop in the size of Kerry crowds the last 2 days. This morning Kelly Wallace claimed reporters were shocked at how small the crowds last night in Miami and especially in West Palm Beach were. She said the crowd she was standing in front of this morning(I think it was Appleton) was also not "filling the area they expected" Then just now on CNN in the wrap up piece on Kerry's day, they said Kerry crowds were moderate sized.
Is it just that of course they seem smaller to the reporters after the huge 80,000 crowd of earlier in the week? Or are the crowds actually smaller the last 2 days? Or is CNN just being the ass they are?
They didn't reference Bush's crowd sizes of today at all, large or small.

Someone posted a story earlier today about Shrub, and at the end was a comment about "a few dozen Bush supporters" were there waiting to hear him speak.
A few dozen.

16. I've seen a couple like that ... |

Usually contrasted with the 80,000+ rally for Kerry the other day.
Video and pics from Shrub rallies are usually tight shots while Kerry's tend to be more wide angle. There's a reason for that.

2. Good, let them infer all they want... |

The Kerry Edwards team is out knocking on doors trying to get less apt Dem voters to get off their butts and "buts" to go vote.
Our rallies should be empty these next few days, there's work to be done...
I'm beat...too many doors to knock!!

We are working are tails off and I cannot spend a day seeing K/E, Michael Moore or whoever. I saw them weeks ago and have been working constantly for K/E the last week and half.

with Bill and Teresa and that one sure looked huge. It's probably CNN (Certainly Not News) and lots of people might be waitin on line to vote in FL if the polls were open then.

turn out - can U imagine how long it would take 2 process the loyalty oaths? I was watching Clinton in NM and the crowd wasn't huge but I didn't see it from the beginning either. I just know Bill mentioned it was cold. Don't know what the weather is like in the rest of the country but it is the end of October and I'm guessing a few frosts have greeted many in the morning.
I mean come on K/E crowds have been in the 10's of thousands. The haven't had 2 'electronically enhance' any of their crowds.

10. i'm guessing it's just CNN being themselves |
|
Cable news has several Anti-Kerry narratives.
"He's doing bad among women" or... "He's doing bad among Blacks" or... "He doesn't energize Democrats" or... "The Clintons are overshadowing him" or "He doesn't talk to the press": that one's especially funny.

I think Kerry may be getting better coverage on Faux!
Remember people, this is NOT Ted Turner CNN. This is Republican Time-Warner CORPORATE CNN. Kiss them goodbye.
I'll occasionally tune in for Aaron Brown because he one of the few real journalists left in TV news, and I like the reports from Christiane Amanpour for the same reason. Other than that, CNN is a waste. They need to go down, down, down so that TW will realize changes have to be made. Paula Zahn and Wolf Blitzer and Barbara Starr and Bill Schneider and Judy Woof-Woof and Daryn Kagan and Carol Lin, just to name a few, have got to go. They won't go as long as they have any ratings at all.

12. I was at the Miami rally on Friday |
|
And it's PARTLY true. I say partly because the rally almost filled the Bayfront Park Ampitheater, but with the areas they had blocked off for security reasons, the ampitheater wasn't filled to capacity. Nowhere near 80,000 would fit. I'd say about 5,000, maybe, but I don't have any experience in judging crowd size.
What's more important is that MOST people only found out about the rally on Tuesday or later, which really isn't enough time for most people to get off work early. I know a lot of people that were pissed that they couldn't go because they were already working.
But don't worry. I've been at the early-voting place near me all week, and Kerry is edging the lead among the voters I've seen. And Coral Gables isn't a huge liberal area. Lots of rich folks, and it's very close to Little Havana, which is right-wing central for the Cuban-Americans. Florida's not going red again.

Especially in Wisconsin....
I would have loved to have gone to Appleton this morning to see Senator Kerry. Instead, I went to Milwaukee and canvassed for Senator Kerry. We had a very large crowd for canvassing today. I've been going out with the League of Conservation Voters for a while now, and I have never seen as many people as there were this morning. Something else I've noticed --- the only people who seem to be home are Bush supporters. The Kerry people are all out volunteering. The probability of finding someone home if there is a Kerry sign in the front yard is very slim indeed.
Isn't that WONDERFUL!
And that is why his crowds may be a little smaller in battleground states.
Monday morning he's scheduled to appear in Milwaukee...That won't conflict with volunteering - perhaps the crowd will be slightly larger....

|
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 10:21 PM by bullimiami
of course it wasnt the 80000 they had in madison. but it was as many as the venue held 12-15000 is my guess maybe a little more. it seats 12000 and it was overflowing.
has bush ever had a turnout like the one the other day in madison? i dont think so.
in response the part that was closed on the north was not that big. the amphitheater proper was Full except the closed section and the entrance area was full and the crowd was overflowed into the green on the southwest side.

I think the Appleton crowd was a couple thousand, at the most. People in the area, however, have had many chances in the last two weeks to attend a Kerry rally. He was in Appleton 2 weeks ago (12,000 attended), in Green Bay (1 late-night rally and 1 early morning speech) this week, and in Madison (a 1 1/2 hour drive) on Thursday. I know I have seen him 3 times in the last few weeks and every rally/speech has been enthusiastic.

Bush has an Orwellian oath requirement to enter his pep rallies.
That the huge crowds for Kerry are underestimitated is more proof of the power of what will happen on Tuesday.

Beautiful weather too and Kerry, Fingerhut and Tim Ryan were excellent.

appleton is much smaller, more conservative, and doesn`t have the students who on a good day or bad just can`t wait to party..taking it to the streets has been a madison tradition since the early 60`s. just remember this about kerry`s stops-" people get ready, there`s a train a`com`n, you don`t need no baggage, you just get on board"
