Which Republicans would you want to serve in a Kerry cabinet? |
|
Here's a few people I could live with:
John McCain (Defense) Chuck Hagel (Defense) Richard Lugar (State/UN Ambassador) Warren Rudman (Homeland Security/Office of Management and Budget) Thomas Kean (CIA/Homeland Security) William Weld (Attorney General)
Personally, I don't think there's any chance McCain would accept a cabinet position. And I think Democrats are going to be appointed run State and Justice.

4. I couldn't live with McCain. |
|
Once again. Bushies trashed his wife and daughter in 2000; now he's acting as though that never happened. How can you sleep at night, John McCain? You are no kind of man to me.
I could live with the rest of them; I don't think it would do much to unite the country, though, because the right wing nut jobs don't like the moderates in their own party either.

I have lost all respect I once had for McCain, as many people I know have. To have taken such a front and center piece in the Bush campaign after what these exact same people did to him in 2000 shows me he has no respect for himself much less the American public.

I'm sick of their sh*t and America needs an enema to cleanse us of their vileness.
They tried that 'uniter not a divider' shtick 4 years ago and we got our head handed to us. I want a Kerry admin to announce from the outset that repukes are persona non grata and that the Justice dept will be investigating and prosecuting all the crimes of the past 4 years, including voter intimidation.

59. I am tired of Democrats ALWAYS rolling over and playing dead |
|
when it comes to the Republicans. Tell me, how many moderate Republicans or even conservative Democrats are in high ranking cabinet positions within the BUSH administration.
I'm waiting.
NO, Kerry should reward DEMOCRATIC party loyalty by appointing loyal DEMOCRATS to cabinet level positions. He should in no way shape or form appoint a Republican to any position.
This is what is wrong with the Democrats. In trying to reach out to the other side they dilute their message and appear weak. The Republicans, on the other hand, appear strong and resolute in their message. I don't like the it's my way or the highway approach but neither do I like the Dems rolling over and saying "I'm sowwy for the naaasty election campaign but now let's all pway nicey nice, k."
Don't forget about the REPUBLICAN led TEN YEAR ASSAULT on the last DEMOCRAT elected as president.
REMEMBER NOVEMBER 2000 and how the REPUBLICANS stole an election and the presidency.
These people cannot be reasoned with.
The people who deserve to be rewarded in a Kerry administration are minorities because without the black vote Kerry will not get in. If he does nothing to thank the black community for their support and blacks feel taken for granted, it will be REAL difficult for Dems in 2006 and 2008.

Any former soldier who decided that loyalty to a fuckin' idiot like Bush required helping Bush lie his way into a war deserves a very special place in hell, not a helping hand up from the Democrats. Beyond that, his entire career has been duplicitous, sneaky, and self-serving. He's been an expert at covering things up for the Repugs, even when on active duty, and he's traded on that. :grr:

Sorry, McCain's too hawkish, Hagel's a liar (his weaseling on his ownership of ES&S was too much for me), Lugar tries to act moderate, but his votes over time don't show it, Rudman might be the lone exception.
Kean was on the 9/11 commission to do Bush's bidding, and effectively prevented it from doing its job (well, there were others doing that, too, but Kean was the chair), and William Weld is probably the highest-functioning insane person in the Republican party (there are others even crazier than he is, but he's good at keeping it undercover).
Why is it that people even suggest Republicans for Democratic administrations? Don't we have enough smart, capable people? Lord knows Bush just kept Mineta around because of his business contacts. And, lord knows Republicans have no respect for bipartisanship when it's their turn at the helm.

But most people aren't rabid either way. Most people (moderate republicans, moderate democrats and independents) want somebody who is bipartisan and inclusive.
Most people in the country will give President Kerry a chance. After all, Clinton had a 70% approval rating. Of course, the fanatics that impeached him will also gun for Kerry, but most people will give him a chance.

29. Some second tier Republicans would be okay |
|
By this, I mean some of the reasonable Republicans we know are out there, but who are not now in the national spotlight. It would be for bipartisabship and to help restablish the old line Republican party. The neocon/theocrat part of the party is going to be excised by the party's mainstream in the coming internal Republican civil war. No doubt we can find some moderates to serve in Kerry administration.
But, to be sure, I do not want to see anyone with a history in the recent Republican hate fest. Included in this group would be McCain, Ghouliani, and that whole crowd for sure. No way, no how. Probably also would include Lugar and Hagel, but I am less adamant about them.

67. McCain, Hagel, Lugar: get them out of the senate! |
|
Hahaha, maybe that'll help get us the majority again.

Did a good job nailing Gov (license plate) Ryan in IL is no pursuing the Plume case. Assuming they nail some one for that egregious leak first. I would not won't that dropped or handed to a lesser.

lemme think....NONE.
The republican party is going to officially be on notice after Tuesday. If they expect to remain viable in coming years, they better clean up their act and fast. The few halfway decent republicans who are moderate on social issues and fiscal ones need to start kicking ass and taking names or else they will just continue to go off that cliff on the far right hand side of the map.
On notice, I tell you.

75. None in defense/security positions |
|
We need to stop giving the impression their are not dems with better ideas for security because we DO HAVE better ideas than thugs.
I'd put a few republicans in lesser positions, and only very moderate ones. McCain would never take one, he likes showboating in the senate.

Senate and gubernatorial elections. I want to annihilate the other side in the future because that's what they want to do with us! To do so we need more high profile Dems! Let them all rot in Senate minority party hell after we take back that chamber.
