This election is truly a barometer for the direction of our nation... |
|
The people will decide which direction we are to go. Will we go for peace and cooperation or will we go for war and independence from our allies? Will we choose to go in the direction of taxcuts for everyone, but mostly the wealthy, at the expense of drowning our government because it has gotten "too big". Will we be a leader in the world or will we be a third world nation with no tax base to meet our needs as a nation? Will we choose to trash our Social Security system for a market-based "investment" or will we choose to continue to protect our seniors with a basic insurance program? This election is the barometer for the people of America. The decision is ours. We will pay a steep price if the wrong decision is made.

the rest of the world is watching this election. They don't blame the US people for Bush-yet. If we vote him in, we'll be considered an international parriah, I fear, and I have great worries on whether we will be able to economically survive what with the massive deficits.

bush* administration alienation from the help we so vitally need in times like this. That's the way they want it. And this country will suffer sorely when it happens, both economically and politically world wide.
As for social security, I've been paying into that INSURANCE fund for decades and bush* thinks that money is his for the taking. He's crazy if he thinks his crazy investment scheme will work. When the economy hits rock bottom, as it surely will the way we are going, millions of us will have no damn money to invest. It's already moving that way thanks to that idiot and his loss of over how many million jobs since he took office. And I do mean 'took'.
Elitist bastard has dreams of a have and have-not society where we'll all be working for minimum wage for Halliburton or some Carlyle Group corporation (if we are fortunate enough to be working) and them raking in the big bucks thanks to our labors.

5. Boy, ya got that right |

Are we going to be pig-headed, wealth-worshiping haters of anything different from ourselves, or are we going to be cosmopolitan, inclusive and decent world citizens?
It really couldn't be any more obvious. All of the appeals of the right in this election are pure conservatism: selfishness to the bone. Every domestic and foreign policy is stated in warlike terms and appeals only to "our" desires: subsidize the rich, fuck the poor and crush anyone who gets in our way or expects us to pitch in and help.
The thin veneer of righteousness and steadfastness can't mask the inherent demand to dominate and do as we please. It's meanness plain and simple, and it shows.
(I haven't even addressed that it doesn't work, and many sensible people can see that.)
