Who doesn't agree this would be a knockout idea for Kerry....and WHY |
|
I would give almost anything to see this Monday.
Kerry picks the location where he knows he will have the most possible exposure on television...maybe even put out a press release bulletin that he has a special announcement to make.
When he has the attention of the entire United States, and maybe the world, he would look right into the camera like he did on the debate and say, building almost to a shouting crescendo:
I know the Bush campaign would prefer that I definitely would not address this directly. But I think the American people would be more outraged that I did not have the anger to condemn what we were forced to witness this past Friday.
So Bin Laden, I have called this announcement so I can speak directly to you. And I am talking directly to you right now Osama Bin Laden. I want to be sure you get this message.
You have just unequivocally and blatantly admitted on worldwide television that "you" were responsible for masterminding the worst terror attack ever committed on US soil. So Bin Laden I want you to hear this, and hear me clearly. If the American people elect me to be their president on November 2nd, you will not be on television making appearances and thumbing your nose at the United States of America. If the citizens of America send me to Washington, you will be running for your life. I will assemble the best intelligence and superior military resources America has in it's possession. We will unite our allies at our side, and we will organize the most intensive manhunt in history. We will hunt you down wherever you are, we will find you--I promise you that we will find you...and we will capture you or we will kill you.
You have been responsible for an atmosphere of fear that has pervaded our very lives. And you shall no longer. You have had three years to avoid justice for your unspeakable acts of havoc on America. If I am made president of these United States, you will be my number 1 military priority, and your reign of terror shall end. The American people will find you, we'll bring you to justice and you will pay for your barbaric acts. As will we bring to justice any other network, group or individual whose intent or will is to committ terror in the world. Americans will not live in fear any longer. That is not only my message to you Osama Bin Laden, that is my promise to you.
I'm telling you, you would hear people leaping to their feet and screaming approval for Kerry in their living rooms. You would hear it from New York to California. Bush could bitch all he wanted about it. There wouldn't be time to do anything. Kerry would captivate the nation. The election would be a landslide cinch.

Kerry is not President. It is not his place to take over the foreign policy for the country. If he would be so naive and stupid as to do that, it would show that he is not competent to be a world leader. Which is why he would never do that, I'm glad to say.

5. I couldn't disagree more. |
|
Fuck the protocol of who is president. John Kerry is a heartbeat away from being president. I'm tired of being apologetic and ass kissing to this Loch Ness Monster fuckhead we got in the White House.
This is the thing would annihilate bush. It would be his worst nightmare. This is the last day to let the American people know John Kerry would make George Bush's war on terror look like a play video game compared to what he would do.
The democrats would rave about it, and the undecideds would say, now goddamit there's a president. The shift would be mind boggling.

He is not taking over the foreign policy of the country, he is just reiterating what has already been promised and forgotten. The only thing he would be adding is a promise that he indeed would succeed unlike this administration, that is purely political not diplomatic.
I am nominating this for the homepage!

is that he doesn't even mention bush. He doesn't insult him, or even say how pathetic he's been and that he could have killed him in Tora Bora. The message this way will have no possible republican spin that he's taking advantage of the fact that there is a dispute he could have been destroyed. The fact is wherever the hell he was is not important. The indisputed fact now is that he is still alive and well.
So he speaks DIRECTLY to, and only to Bin Laden himself on behalf of the American people that if he is elected, things will change. We will put the military emphasis where it should have been and now will be.
Isn't the bush campaign claiming this video was an endorsement for Kerry? You damn right they are. They're using the tape as if it was the best thing that ever happened to them...a GIFT!!
Well, you'd see their poll numbers drop like a rock if Kerry did this. There isn't a chance this has anything but Kerry wins election all over it.

This is seriously something I would bring up if I worked in the campaign. There needs to be more of us out there willing to hammer home the truth, and this is exactly what Kerry needs to truly prove himself to the American people.
This is exactly his place to bring this up, the show would be over!

36. I disagree strongly. We can have only one leader, and until 11/2, that |
|
leader is Bush. As Kerry knows, with his military background, you don't try to usurp the authority of the commander.
That would be like me putting out a video speaking to Bin Laden. Ridiculous. And possibly harmful.
Besides, a leader doesn't directly address a foreign enemy of OBL's ilk by videotape. Bush apparently knows this, as I know Kerry would.

banking his entire campaign that he can keep people's mind on terror. And not having them understand the incredibly unbelievable fact that he's been the CAUSE of the terror. He isn't fighting it, he's creating it!! All over the world and gloating that he can keep America safe. Bush is the one who turned our televisions into terror-visions.
If John Kerry would make this address to Osama Bin Laden, it would ring through the televisions across the world all day Monday and Monday night.
Undecided's would be going to the polls saying John Kerry will kill Osama Bin Laden, not say he isn't concerned about him.
I'm telling you they would not being able to wait to get to the polls and cast their vote for John Kerry.
Talk about a November surprise. Bush wouldn't get 45%.

12. The anger needs to be directed at the george w. bu$h administration. |
|
They are the ones who trained and equipped Osama Bin Laden. They are the ones that ignored the warnings for their own ends. They are the ones that defies and ignored the world so they could set their own agenda. We need to go back to the original premise of a police action in cooperation with the rest of the world.
Terrorism is a world wide problem with the United States escalating and feeding the terrorists for the last 3 years.
The real blame for 9/11/01 is not OBL, it is the neo-cons and fascist in our government for letting it happen, even helping making sure it did happen.

15. But this would accomplish |
|
that and more in a way that would be perceived by Americans, except republicans, that Kerry is not interested in what Bush's policies have been in the past. They are irrelevant if he is president.
He is putting Osama Bin Laden on notice that if he assumes the office of president, Bin Laden's days of enjoying the incompetence are over.
It will be the flag waving event of the year. Bush even said "he isn't concerned about Bin Laden." Do you think Americans wouldn't love to hear Kerry tell Bin Laden outright that he is going to be his number one priority and kill him?
I say again, flags will be waving all over America in joy. It will be the speech of the year. And literally catapult him into victory.

Our very first priority is to finds a way out of Iraq without leaving a civil war behind. To do that we need to build our integrity back up with the rest of the world. One way to do that is to charge key members of the bu$h administration with war crimes and crimes against humanity, and yes even treason.
We need to build our spy networks back up.
In other words our #1 priority is to repair the damage of the last 4 years and make sure it can not happen again.
OBL is a world problem, not just a United States problem. bu$h's Wild West Show is about over. Way too many people have died for little or nothing. It is time for a civilized people to cooperate in restoring law and order. That is the way to stop the OBL's of the world.
And organizing a posse to kill people is just continuing the Wild West Show.

Of course, the repukes have spun this lie before...but if Kerry said it, it wouldn't be a lie.
But the voters who are still uninformed sheep might believe it. The voters who are informed would just say "yah, we heard that before, and it's been 3 years...why didn't you do it already?"

Bush would be a virtual laughing stock if he did this. He just said, he isn't that concerned about him--doesn't think about him that much.
Now he's going to go on television and say what I wrote for Kerry?? He would be ridiculed to the nth degree. The very fact that Bin Laden appeared on television shows the proof how inept Bush was to get him for 3 years.
He can't say it. He'd look like a fool. That's what makes it so incredibly beneficial for Kerry to say it.
I wish someone who had the power, could get this suggestion to the campaign.

Tears of pride and a feeling of the true American fighting spirit finally being reborn. An anger about to be justly avenged.
I don't know anything he could say that would stir that kind of emotion across America.

It might get him a few votes, short term. But in terms of world sentiment and foreign policy, it's a bad move that would continue to stir up anti-American feelings.
I didn't like the "bring it on" speech that Bush gave, I wouldn't like this any better - foreign policy requires restraint as much as it requires threats.

|
another thing to follow in the same limp noodle diplomatic policies of protocol that reek of weakness.
When John F. Kenndy was confronted by the Russian ships loaded with missiles on their way to Cuba, he told the Russians turn those ships around, and NOW!
Bullshit America doesn't talk to terrorists. What do you think Rumsfeld was doing when he was shaking Saddam's hand? Or when Krushschev slammed his shoe on the podium? Or when Reagan said, tear down this wall!
That's the problem with too many presidents. They didn't have the balls to tell the enemies their fate. This asshole didn't even go after the right country.
This would show the kind of guts Theodore Roosevelt had, not some wimpy make believe war on terror president. It would shock America to it's core, and the cheers would be outright deafening.

I realize that almost half the country has been duped, but I also have faith that more than half can still think for themselves, and know that Bush has had 1146 days to get our enemy, dead or alive.
Tomorrow would not be a good day for Kerry to make your suggested speech - 2 days ago was the time for that.

38. I like the directness of it, only I wouldn't apply it to bin Laden because |
|
it's just too touchy and you never know how some people, even some liberals, might interpret it. Kerry COULD be seen as making these rhetorical claims out of last minute desperation, and that's a percerption he doesn't want to appear to be in. Besides, the right wing media would turn this on Kerry like he was taking advantage of the video for political purposes only, which in essence would be true.
However, I do wish that Kerry had applied the directness and clarity of your speech to many other ideas earlier in the campaign such as the deficit. Many people still don't know what that term means or how it will someday directly affect them, and it should've been pointed out to them in black and white...and in the same manor of the speech you just wrote for Kerry, so it would actually have hit home.
