The big day is tomorrow. I discovered DU by a fluke really. In the aftermath of Sept 11 - and with growing disillusionment of Bushco particularily with the Iraqfiasco - I began to search for like minded individuals. I guess I didn't want to think that all of America was going all rightwing weird. Thankfully, DU provided an avenue to discuss what was happening and also strategies for dissent and frank open discussion.
To all my American friends - good luck tomorrow. GOTV, don't give up, fight for this...and then the entire world will see the outstanding benefits of a true democracy in action. This is the one avenue that everyday people have one chance, one voice, one vote for change. By voting tomorrow, and by encouraging every single person you meet to do likewise is an example of democracy at its best. The entire world is watching. When you succeed in dethroning Mr.Bush and rejecting his pre-emptive policies of warmongering, you will send a loud and clear voice across the entire globe. Democracy prevails. Fighting for peace wins everytime over growling for war.
I have no direct voice in this election. I, as many other DU'ers are not American - but I can encourage all of you, congratulate all of you for such an incredible story of triumph and unification against a bitter enemy. This IS the election of your lifetime. This IS ultimate test of the democratic ideal.
Take care, stay safe, and PARTICIPATE...oh yeah, when Kerry is called as winner - have a drink for me!

My 80 year old parents just got back from London. They were so highly impressed with the knowledge and attention that the Europeans have, regarding OUR politics over here. Not only that, but how much kinder they are than Americans. My dad now knows why I'm single. Haha.
I also found the forum in the same manner as you. It is greatly supportive to hear your comments and to have the collective consciousness of all of these people on the forums.
I really respect you for being concerned about American politics. Although, now that I think of our foreign policy, I suppose our politics are your politics.
Pins and needles! I wish I could be done with this waiting...

I didn't get panic stricken until it became blatently clear to me that bush as going to invade Iraq come hell or highwater. It was around January or February of 2003 that I joined DU. And am planning on getting to the 1000 poster club someday.... :-)

Your post just about made my day, at a time when fear and apprehension are almost unbearable and I feel like I've invested every last bit of emotion and strength into the election.
Tomorrow will be one of the most important days in my life, and nothing makes me feel better than to know that there are those outside of America that are pulling for us. Regardless of the outcome, we are going to need you desperately.
