Why Kerry and Edwards Kept Floggin the Tora Bora Line
It just occured to me. They were expecting more news about OBL, a video, maybe even the capture of a top lieutenant or OBL himself.

This was the campaign's way of innoculating the voters against the political effects of any OBL news. And it worked.

I heard that "outsourcing" line so many times I thought it was being overdone. I'm beginning to think it was very prescient.

Good strategy, and paid off bigtime.

You win!

Proactive campaigning is like playing chess: you have to visualize several moves out from where you are at any given moment in the game.

Had UBL shown up impaled on a stick, we would possibly have asked, "Why did it take so long to capture him?"

OR

"How many kids had to die for you to catch a sick old man hiding in a cave?"

5. It changed perceptions of Bin Laden video, for sure...
Without Tora Bora line: ObL video = Be Afraid! Terror! Support Bush

With Tora Bora line: ObL video = Bush has failed to catch him when he bloody well could have!

6. Yes, it made his being at large a Bush liability.
And a liability it certainly is!

7. I wonder how Rove feels/felt when
his October OBL surprise was being proactively trounced via the outsourcing meme?

We all knew that OBL was going to be the used by the * as an "ace-in-the-hole," I don't think Rove had any idea how brilliant the Kerry camp could be turn that one right around on him!

Woo hoo John Kerry!!!

A big Cheney yourself to KKKarl Rove!!!
