Could The Course of The Century Be Determined Tomorrow? |
|
On one hand, we have the possibility of joining the rest of the industrial world in providing health care, and an enormous push for clean, renewable energy from the largest energy consumer on the planet. On the other hand, you have someone who thinks that nuclear weapons are usable if they are small enough.
No matter who wins, the difficulties that we face domestically and abroad are daunting. It shouldn't be suggested that all our problems will be fixed in four years. But - not even discussing the Supreme Court - I think we have the potential for a smart, engaged leader of the free world that could very well set the ball rolling on some of the most important reforms to find fruition in the 21st century.
So, yes, I think we should be rightly anxious and focused on the ground game tomorrow, but at the same time we should allow ourselves to be burned through with the light of hope - hope for a century of peace and wisdom.
