About the Ohio challenge ruling update
- AP ran a bad story. While Ohio Supreme Court did rule that they could have 1 challenger per precinct instead of per polling place, Federal rulings of no challengers still holds, although could be overturned by 6th circuit tonight.

1. Makes sense. Feds should trump anyway.
What's the read on 6th Circuit?

6. I count 13 Judges w/Republican appointments
but that does not indicate which states they are from. Here is the link to website:

4. This story was popping up on the boards
But I couldn't find any confirmation. The first post I saw earlier tonight had CNN reporting it, then one quoting Fox. This is how the right wing echo chamber works. They spread lies by reporting unsubstantiated news that was reported on some obscure (or not) source. Then they start quoting each other and before long it looks true and the corporate media picks it up.

The refutation never comes, but the damage has been done.

5. something else that puzzles me about this story....
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 11:04 PM by flowomo
The AP story says that each polling place can have many precincts... but that's backward where I come from.... each precinct can have many polling places. What's my mistake here?

"The court ruled that state law allows one challenger per political party at each precinct. Republicans had registered its challengers at the polls by precinct, but Democrats had registered one challenger at each polling place. In Ohio's most crowded areas, like Cleveland, more than one precinct can be found in each polling place, meaning Republicans could have a numerical advantage in the number of challengers present."

7. If Dem Poll watchers can't even talk...How is it they can confront?
I'm missing something maybe. I'm in GA. Poll watchers here can't make conversation even with Poll Workers outside of necessary questions.

They can't speak with voters at all.

Even if it's someone they know, aside from saying that they are forbidden from conversing with voters
