39. no, he would have lost by 20 |
|
look at the trend lines - he was heading for the floor when 9/11 happened and people rallied around. He then started dropping again and only the invasion of Iraq pulled him back up. Since then he has had a small bump when Saddam was captured but overall it has been consistently downward. He can't run on his record since it is abysmal - all he has is fear and the "wartime leader" facade.

Everybody knows (even though some refuse to admit it out loud) we are far less secure, especially since Iraq is FUBAR.

by even with the mediocre economy.
I emphasize that Bush would SQUEAK to victory.
Iraq has DESTROYED His Presidency!
But when the people see ALL that has gone wrong, Iraq is the last nail in the coffin. The economy, failed war on terror, Bush's vilifying of his opponents and Iraq all have come together to ruin his chances at a second term!

Without Iraq, there wouldn't the middle of a war syndrome and people would feel more comfortable to take a look at the corporate takeover and Bush's giving the moon to the entire world. I think he'd go down even harder if we'd had an election based only on the economy and a failed Afghanistan and Bin Laden still free.
Just my 2.

Having not pissed off the rest of the free world. I think Iraq was THE motivating factor that caused people to look at the rest of his record. Remember how willingly people went along with Iraq at first? They were ready to follow Bush ANYWHERE. And if he'd stayed in Afghanistan, it would be damn hard to make a case that he ignored bin Laden. Shit, he might have found him by now.
He'd still DESERVE to lose, I just think Rove could have pulled it together otherwise. Iraq, though, is too huge a wound for the public to ignore. Its failures come in body count, rather than in environmental statistics.

More than a few people posted the VNS/NEP numbers on freeper land and it got to over 500 FREEPOUT messages before admins yanked the whole thread. It was beautful to see the freepers CRYING (the news AINT good for them).
Simply a beautiful moment. And the funny thing is the topic was started BECAUSE OF DRUDGE who is also freaking out about it.
If you have a freeper account I recommend you use your last post to keep posting the numbers over there. They are SO DISTRAUGHT.
