LURKERS: DID YOU VOTE?
I know you can't answer here, because lurkers don't post, but you can answer in your own minds. If you haven't voted, please VOTE. Everyone knows that the regular posters here at DU have voted or will vote. The question is whether or not the lurkers are voting.

You've read DU, so you know what's at stake, but maybe you feel that no one is speaking to you. I hope this post can change that. If you read DU but have never posted, you are among those we are trying to reach. Please vote. You don't have to tell us or anyone else that you voted, but do vote. If you've been reading DU for a while, I think you know it's the right thing to do.

DUers, please make sure this thread gets plenty of kicks and stays visible to the lurkers. Thanks.

68. A Dem Lurker
I've been lurking for two years, but I became a born-again Dem in 1980, so of course I voted last week. I live in Texas, my friends are Repugs, and my husband is a Libertarian, so I have to go somewhere to get my fix as I am a political junkie.

And all the other lurkers!

:hi:

It's funny, I only lurked for about 10 minutes before I signed up and opened my loud mouth about a month ago! Although I'd read the articles and other homepage stuff for several months, I had never been involved in a discussion board before and didn't even look in. And now I've managed to rack up hundreds of posts.

Voted and gave some time to the local Dems for GOTV.

I truly believe that chimp is going down...anyone see the interview on Hardball last night by Brokaw of Bush? Great stuff...Brokaw quoted the Economist who said the choice was Incompetent(Bush) Incoherent (Kerry) Brokaw wanted to know how Bush felt of that!

I think they smell blood in the water...you can't ask a question like that the the CIC..the interview was within the last day or two!

GO KERRY WINS IN A LANDSLIDE!

Commencing the Lurk!

58. My 90 year old mother voted - straight democratic
I just talked with my 90 year old mother in CT and, though she is a registered Rep, she voted a straight democratic ticket - I'm so proud of her:D She still drives (:scared: ) and she said it took her 1 and 1/2 hrs to get through main street to the town hall and then another 30 min to find a parking spot. She stood in line for another hour just to vote. She said that she has NEVER seen so many people of all ages, especially young people, out voting in any other election.

34. Yep, I sure did
I mostly lurk, I sometimes post, but tend to feel a little bit intimidated by the knowledge on this board. So I read and read and read. I gain a lot of insight and can persuavesively argue politics with those who question my choice of candidate, which I wouldn't have been able to do without you all. I have actually convinced a few to vote for Kerry who were leaning towards Bush.

I proudly and humbly voted for Kerry/Edwards and a straight democrat ticket in St. Augustine, FL via early voting a week ago Saturday.

I wear my "I voted" avatar with great joy.

These 'I Voted' avatars say a lot, don't they? In fact the main reason I'm posting is to see if mine shows up!

I can't speak for all lurkers of course, but I suspect most of us are here because we agree, not because we need to learn the right thing to do. We're just a naturally quiet bunch. Takes a real special occasion to draw us out. :)

Thank you for asking.

46. Sorry I Didn't vote
Not a US citizen or resident but all my sibblings, their hubbies/wife and kids did vote for JFK and Democratic tickets in their states.
My 19 year old nephew spent summer with me and I convinced him that he had to vote although his parents have always voted for Demo candidates. This a-political youngster went to his first political rally - an Edwards Rally at UF Gainsville. He is sooooooooooo excited since he vote on the weekend. He even called me after the Packers won on Sunday.

Things are looking very good- fingers and toes crossed. White wine on ice - hopefully!!

It was good to see so many minorities voting. The more the better. I just wish the lines at my voting place would have been longer. Maybe it's still too early and people are working. Regardless, Louisiana sounds like it's closer than I figured it would be, so I'm happy. Woo hoo. Boyfriends headed out to buy some champagne.

56. Another Lurker...
Hi Everyone...Yes I am a lurker. I am in Miami and have been visiting DU from March of 2001. I really don't know if I, or any of us, could have made it without DU these last four years. During the 2000 election, I was president of a large Democratic club in Miami-Dade County and after what we went through those few weeks after the election, I hope we never have to go through that again. Or look at another Bush.

I voted early, so don't think just because we lurk, we aren't just as committed to the cause. Going to a friend's house to night with champagne in hand. Let us toast to VICTORY and John Kerry/John Edwards!!!

And yes, I am part Native American, could you guess Cherokee?

69. Whoa, that's a lotta lurkin'!!! Glad you decided to join us. How could
you hold back from joining in the conversations for 4 years?! I lurked for about 3 months before I logged in to become an official user. Then lurked a couple of months longer before posting. I love DU, but have to admit it can be rather adicting.
Welcome.

71. I've known one of the lurkers for 20 years. He shook hands with
Hubert H. Humphrey at the Dem Convention in Dallas in 1968 when he was a teenager. Always been a Democratic. He and his wife voted today last week for Kerry/Edwards.
