Will West Virginia go Blue ?!? |
|
Every news report is talking about record turnout, and I can't believe that support is THAT strong for Shrub....If this election goes as it LOOKS like it's going, it'll certainly restore my faith in Americans as a whole, but only a Kerry victory here in my home state will restore my faith in West Virginians...
I know all indications were that WV was going red...but then how do you explain the turnout ?

5. Why else the turnout ? |
|
All I can tell you is that my wife left to go vote at 6:30 this morning, and when I drove past the polling place over an hour later she was JUST leaving. The governor's race is pretty much in the bag for Manchin (democrat), so what else could be driving the turnout ?
I left work early, voted, then came home to phone bank for a couple hours, but even at 2:00 I still had a short wait.
I'm telling you, WV could come back blue at the end of the night.

TN is made up of racist hicks just like AL.
Hell, they didn't even vote for Gore... why will they vote for Kerry?
It may be close... look for Arkansas to be the southern state that goes to Kerry/Edwards.

3. Don't underestimate the power of the convictions on the right |
|
There's a reason they dominate the airwaves and the discussions. They have powerful convictions, and if they think their personal philosophies are under attack, they're likely to go through hell or high water to defend them. So if WV's have been snowed into thinking that "libruls are going to ban the Bible" or some such nonsense, it very well could result in high turnout on the right, regardless of whether it's for Bush himself.

6. Sad, but I can't disagree |
|
Too many of my fellow WV'ians are too uninformed to know when they're being lied to. But, at the same time, I just can't see THAT kind of turnout for a Repug in this state. The past week, the union have been putting on a BIG push for Kerry, and I'm hoping that THAT is what we are seeing.
Hell, at this point, nothing would surprise me. If the young people in this state - those that are left, anyway - get off their butts and get to the polls, you never know what might happen.

8. 45 min until polls close here...................... |
|
I haven't heard any exit polls yet.
Over 20% of the WV electorate voted early, that looks good for the Dems.
