Are your freeper friends/relative/neighbors saying we will all unite...
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 09:53 PM by LibertyChick
behind *?

(Not sure if this is the correct forum)

Anyway, I got to thinking about this from another DUer posting that her parents said that they voted for * and that the country will unite behind * and heal.

I myself cut off contact with conservative relatives (long story) and I guess I scare too many RW neighbors for them to come up to me to say that to my face.

Are they saying stuff along this vein to you guys? :wtf:

I think they don't get it-we hate * even more than they did Clinton.

I am not uniting with any of them. I don't want them reaching out to me. I don't want to heal.

What is the vibe out there?

4. Don't know. I won't talk to any of them yet. I hope to be visiting VT and
scouting out home prices, etc., during Thanksgiving. The fact that we planned to be away during a holiday looking for a place to move should be a big indicator that I no longer wish to live in this state. I've had a few people tell me that "Your Mom would freak if you moved away".

All I know is that I care too much about the future of my kids to remain in this regressive area. Perhaps if she, my brothers and basically all of my other relatives thought more about the kids in this country and world, I wouldn't be considering moving away with the kids.
I'm not in the mood and I really feel that she voted to directly fuck up the type of future her grandkids will have.

5. We talked about this at work today,
but not about uniting behind bush, but uniting amongst ourselves. We said it was a great election fight, almost all of us came in very tired. We're military, we Kerry supporters were very out-numbered. Only one person gloated, but we all hate him, so it didn't matter.

They are too busy being asshats right now... but as soon as one says "unite and heal" to me, I'm going to unite my heel with their face.

Fuck them! The Talibornagains can have their commander. My husband is applying for dual-citizenship in Italy, and we're giving the country four more years of blood, sweat and tears. If America blows it again, we're out of here.

My 13yr old daughter just came home from church and told me that she's going to hell... at least that is what she was told... "Anyone who wanted Kerry to win is going to hell anyhow, so why should we care?"

Fuck! I go from sad to pissed to resigned to depressed and back to pissed.

12. I got a text message from a idiot * supporter
4 more years I called right back and left a message saying that I was happy that * would be held responsible for everything that happens, no more blaming Clinton. I expected him to support * by joining up to serve in the military. I told him that if he did not do this he would be just like his cheer leading, draft dodging, short hero. Later when he pulled in from work I went out and asked him why he proud to be identified with the right wingers, he can't stand them.
I just kept making fun of *, he was embarrassed, as he should be for voting for that looser. I will probably never feel the same about this person and I would not have done this to him if he didn't egg me on. I will never, ever get behind * for any reason. I can't stand his voice. I wish aar would quit playing clips of * talking, I have to keep running to turn the radio down. Ridicule people who voted for * it feels so good.

I told him I'll show Bush as much support as he did Clinton.

He said, "I supported Clinton more than you do Bush."

I told him I supported Bush after 9/11 on Afghanistan but Bush squandered it. He had a country that was more united than it has been in 50 years and Bush threw that all away for Iraq.

actually, and sent out the message about talking about "uniting", "healing", and "coming together" behind *.

Because half the US hates his guts.

Mel "Fetus Fanatic" Martinez said something today on the local news (FL) about "reaching out" to those who did not vote for him.

Personally, I would like Mr. Martinez to jab a long pointy, curarae-pointed stick up his rectum and to keep going until it comes out of his mouth.

20. they're gloating
checked out some of the freeper boards today (yes, it was very masochistic of me) and they are writing hateful, hateful things about us, referring specifically to our boards over here at DU and their joy at our misery. One post looked promising, with a subject line about this being a chance at conciliation, but it turns into a really juvenile, spiteful rant like everything else they put up there.

Forget it. All we've got, literally, literally, is the filibuster. Otherwise, any power we wield must come from outside the system. It won't be pretty.

Told her I hoped she would enjoy going broke trying to take care of them because they could no longer take care of themselves.

23. Winning means not having to say you're sorry
I get the feeling that this talk of uniting will last a day or so and then the knives will be unveiled:
From adamyoshida.com

"So, George W. Bush won. And he's done so by a solid margin. The Democrats' attempted coup managed to last all of eight hours. Not only is the President the first candidate to win a majority of the vote in a Presidential Election since 1988, but he also won more popular votes than any other candidate in history. The Democrats spent months telling us that high voter turnout would equal a win for them but, as it turns out, when 60% of the electorate showed up at the polls it translated into a Bush lead of nearly four million votes. In short: take that, you sons of bitches.
The Democrats are now talking about how this is a signal that Bush should 'bring the country together'. Translated into American, this means 'now that you've won, you should surrender to us.' The hell with that. We've won. Winning means not having to say you're sorry... Those who didn't support Bush can go and perform a certain anatomically impossible act. They lost, now they can sit in the back of the bus. Thank God Almighty."

I think the Country will get behind our President.

I immediately started thinking, where have you been the last four years? Do you really think half of this Country that despises Bush* is now going to come out in favor of a war with Iran? Do you really think had the shoe been on the other foot the Republicans would today be saying, sure, I can get behind freedom of choice.

What that tells me is that Kerry almost won the thing. Yeah, we all think that it SHOULD have been 99-1, the right way but the fact that it wasn't is simply proof that evolution demands TIME.

Someone here recently pointed out that the fundies were actually beginning to enter their tarpits, and I replied that I just didn't see it, given the popularity of Gibson's Torturama and the Left Behind fantasies. But after hearing how empty the churches in Europe are now, can Amurica really be 3 generations behind the Europeans?
