The Democrats need their own "Contract with America" |
|
The Democrats need to come up with a list of around ten very simple legislative proposals (i.e., things that can be described in ten words or less) that EVERY Democratic candidate for Congress ANYWHERE in the country can run on.
There should be an equal balance between national security/defense proposals, economic/health care, and governmental reform. Absolutely NO divisive social issues (gays, guns, abortion).
Once the list is drawn up, the Democrats should spend the next two years talking about these proposals AND NOTHING ELSE. We shouldn't allow ourselves to get drawn into a tit-for-tat with the Republicans. And most of all, we need the American voters to know what we stand for.

I've been saying this for years. We criticize the "Contract w/ America" but you know what - - it worked.
For all the "creative people" in our party, we're terrible at marketing our ideas.
Quick: What do Democrats stand for? (I don't know either).
