Did Jesus say "make the little children suffer for me"? |
|
Jesus said "suffer the little children unto to me" not "make the little children suffer for me"

5. People misunderstand the use of the word "suffer" here. |
|
It's an archaic meaning of "suffer." In this context, it means "allow" or "permit." In the Gospel, disciples were attempting to keep children away from Jesus, and he said something like, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of God." Or words to that effect.
You see the verse on the tombstones of children, implying that the dead children are now with Jesus.
