We will protect you, Kerry won't. That's the lie that hurt us! |
|
A campaign based on fear, Rove drilled home the message that Bush is the only one can win the fight on terror.
Yes, the 'moral' issues were a factor but the fear they instilled in America was their biggest ammo.

1. there was also the "guilt" factor involved |
|
if a terrorist attack happened under Kerry then it would be their fault if they voted for him.
but this isn't much different from what the religious right wing were doing in the churches by telling people they will go to hell if they vote for kerry.

3. This and the moral issues thing |
|
It's an old amerikan myth that a republican will always be "stronger, tougher" than a democrat---at least since the 50s. Never mind that democrats got us through the biggest wars of the 20th century. But that's the way of myths---not necessarily based on reality and NOT based on logic.
But, yes, bushco, rove, the media all played into this savior image. Only * could have gotten us through 9/11, so only * can keep us from another attack (never mind that it happened on his watch and that he ignored the intelligence available and did nothing to protect the amerikan people).
Just have to repeat my mantra
"stupid stupid people"

Surrounded by complacent idiots.
They have ceded their ability to think in favor of "someone else" protecting them and making the big decisions. How they will live to regret it!

5. I agree. At the same token, Kerry's campaign failed to expose it as a lie |
|
As much as Rove ran their campaign on fear and lies, the Kerry campaign did very little to stand up and explain to the stupid half of America in simple down-to-earth rhetoric HOW the repukes were lying, not just THAT they were lying.
That Kerry never stopped and took each of their lies and disected it verbally so stupid people could understand him was just dumb dumb dumb dumb!
