How many Democrats voted for Bush? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 11:30 AM by kentuck
Former Reagan Democrats? If Bush got 59 million votes and Kerry got 56 million votes, that would at first glance say that the Repubs have an advantage that may be difficult to overcome. Unless the Democratic Party can get the Democrats back into the fold, or unless the Party can get more new voters than the Repubs, or unless the Republicans "backslide" on their Party for whatever reason, then the Democrats could be in for a long, dry spell.
Looking at it in black and white numbers, it would appear that the Repubs are the majority Party in this country. They are the Party of the People. That is a title that will be hard to keep because sooner or later the people will ask for something and the Repubs will not be able to give it to them. Because they are a facade of a Party that really stands for nothing except taxbreaks for the wealthy and more enslavement of the labor classes. They will dust a crumb off the edge of the table from time to time to give an appearance of being "compassionate conservatives" but the people will go further and further in the hole as the wealthy wrap themselves in gold.

1. Bush Got About 12% Of Democratic Voters... |
|
Normally we can win with those kind of defections...
What killed us is the same number of Pugs and Dems went to the polls and they had less defecions...
Kerry carried Indy's 49-48....
It was a close election but the House and Senate losses were significant...
We need to rehaul our party...

2. That seems like a helluva lot to me... |
|
Since 12% of 50 million voters would be 6 million votes....

6. dem defections are actually usually that high in presidential elections |
|
we normally have more defections than Republicans because many democrats especially in southern and rural areas are dems in name only.

Ed Koch, Zell Miller, and Ron Silver. But I think they all voted for * in 2000, so really none.

are no longer registered as Democrats. They have become registered Republicans.
this defection is either evidence of fraud or a new phenomenon.

5. How do we overcome these numbers ? |
|
If fraud is not proven, are we a permanent minority? Is that a fair question?
