Ask bush why fallujah had to wait til a week after the election
the bastard should be impeached for this; for playing politics with our soldiers lives. He didn't want casualties before the election so he let things fester for 6 months. someone please ask him about this?

3. From Oct. 11 - Bush Administration Plans to Delay Major Assaults in Iraq
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 04:47 PM by Roland99

The Bush administration will delay major assaults on rebel-held cities in Iraq until after U.S. elections in November, say administration officials, mindful that large-scale military offensives could affect the U.S. presidential race.

Although American commanders in Iraq have been buoyed by recent successes in insurgent-held towns such as Samarra and Tall Afar, administration and Pentagon officials say they will not try to retake cities such as Fallujah and Ramadi -- where insurgents' grip is strongest and U.S. military casualties could be the greatest -- until after Americans vote in what is likely to be a close election.

"When this election's over, you'll see us move very vigorously," said one senior administration official involved in strategic planning, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Once you're past the election, it changes the political ramifications" of a large-scale offensive, the official said. "We're not on hold right now. We're just not as aggressive."

Let's give the insurgents a chance to flee the city along with the residents or to remain and entrench themselves for the fight.

Either way, Bush gave up a lot of advantage.

Delaying the assault allows most of the "insurgents" time to escape or time to hide their weapons. So maybe casualties (in the short run) may be less. On the other hand, if we had gone in earlier, and casualities were heavy, the right wing would have spun it as the "insurgents" want Kerry to win so they are pulling out all the stops trying to inflict heavy casualities so Murika will lose its resolve, blah blah blah. Of course, the real question is why in the fuck are we fighting the Iraqi people at all? I thought we were liberating them so they could form their own government, but instead we are propping up the latest stooge who will allow Halliburton and American oil companies to steal the resources.

6. Timing the assualt prior to the election would have given Chimp
even more votes. Dead troops, dead Iraqis-- just watch-- his approval ratings will spike up. Americans love the entertainment.
