how we win? change our image on taxes
Keep our positive positions on social issues: support for civil and equal rights for everyone, pro-choice, sensible gun laws, ect. Where we need an image booster is on the issue of taxation. Despite the GOP's own rotten record on deficits compared to the democrats, every four years we get clobbered on taxation. I think the democrats should advocate keeping the Bush tax cuts on the marriage penalty (this is probably why so many married couples voted for him)and we shouldn't say anything about raising taxes on anybody--even the people who make over $200,000 per year. We should speak of tax "fairness" for all with emphasize on the middle class and working poor and tax credits to help people afford child care and a college education.

1. Democrats need a better chat on taxes, alright. They need to explain how
the Republicans are using the tax code to transfer tons of wealth from the bottom and middle to the top and how they're using it to create a society in which the rich are guaranteed wealth without working for it and people who work for a living have the yolk of supporting society wrapped only around their necks.

We need to shift part of the tax burden off of people who work for a lving and on to people who live off of unearned income so that we're all pulling a fair share of the weight. And we need to do it soon or America is going to fall apart like every other country in the history of the world which overburdened the middle and working classes the way we are doing it in America.
