Is there any possibility that Rudy Giuliani WON'T run in 2008? |
|
I really think that we have a dark fucking hole ahead of us when there are actually peoples stupid enough to think that running Hillary Clinton might be a good idea and the GOP has Rudy Giuliani and maybe John McCain waiting there for us.
Yeah, I've heard the line over and over that the conservatives would never let these moderates get nominated, well guess what. The dittohead base is going to believe whatever their gatekeepers in the likes of Murdoch/Hannity/O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Richard Mellon Scaife tell them too.
This isn't a doom and gloom thread. I'm just saying what could possibly stop or prevent Rudy from running for president in 2008. Whether he would get the nomination is a seperate issue, I think he definetly would however.

1. If he is nominated, we'll win in a landslide |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 11:53 AM by ArtVandaley
The social conservatives of the party WILL NEVER vote for a pro-choice/pro gay/pro-gun control candidate, no matter who he is or what party he's in. He could get nominated, but there will be a far right party running for all the God Guns and Gays voters. Plus, with the realigning of the court, abortion could be a huge issue in 2008, and the repubs will want a hardline pro-lifer.
And for the love of God, NO HILLARY! Win or lose, she's not the image our party wants. I'm sick and tired of the CLintons and their DLC chronies. Get someone with character in the office!

21. I agree, he won't win the nomination, altho |
|
he will make a tremendous try for it. Rove will never allow a repug moderate like Rudy, McCain or Ahnold to become Pres...look for Frist or Santorum, or someone similar, to carry on the RW agenda, remolding America into a theocracy that is easily controlled by corporations.

3. if the right wing fanatics split their votes |
|
between people like santorum, brownback and some other extremists . and the more moderate conservatives stay united behind giuliani. i think that's the only way giuliani can win in the primary.
and of course if bush gives his "blessing" to rudy it would help him in the primary since there are idiots who think god speaks through bush and would do whatever he wants them to.

7. what are you talking about "he'll never get past that videoclip" |
|
Are you living under the illusion that we live in a country that holds Bush republicans, much less "America's Mayor" accountable for that stuff? Nobody held him accountable for it when he said it in the height of a close presidential campaign, they aren't going to do it 4 years

17. If he gets the nomination somehow.. |
|
I want various pictures of him in drag placed under windshield wipers in church parking lots throughout September and October.
I want pictures of him speaking and "performing" at gay rights fundraisers at these churches.
Flyers of him vociferously defending the rights of women to have choice, conveniently placed next to pictures of aborted fetuses.
Meanwhile, we prop-up Roy Moore's run for the Oval Office.
If we can get 1/4 of the GOP base to splinter to Moore while Rudy wins 60% of the moderates in the country, we have a good chance.
Of course, I'd prefer to run against Frist..
Imagine a TV commercial with two adorable kittens in front of a whitescreen in the focus. And off-camera, you hear the sounds of cats being tortured and screaming-out for help. Imagine that TV commercial running in every TV break for a month after he wins the nomination. We end-up smearing him early, just as the GOP smeared Kerry as a "flip-flopper."
Meanwhile, we'd be papering chuch parking lots once again.. this time with details of how he financially supports the family healthcare business.. a business that happens to provide certain, ahh, "reproductive services for women."
Uh-huh. It's go time already again, and I'm ready to smear.

9. A Middle of The Road Dem Can Easily Beat Guiliani |
|
in 08...
Folks in the heartland are going to vote for a pro choice , pro gay cross dressing mayor from Gotham who moved in with his two gay friends after his second wife kicked him out for putting the wood to his communicatins director..
Ain't I hip
LOL@Me
The only Dem Giuliani can beat is a Hillary Clinton type...
McCain would be more difficult to beat but I don't see Rudy or the Flyboy getting the nomination...

20. Is There A Democratic Candidate For President |
|
who married his sister... (o.k. his first cousin) cross dresses, got kicked out his house for boinking his communications director and then moved in with his two gay friends....
Rudy Giuliani isn't a candidate for president... He sounds like a Bob Gucionne creation for a Penthouse Forum letter...
If the Dems nominate a mainstream heartland candidate like Evan Bayh or Mark Warner Warner we will beat Giuliani's dress, errrrrrrr, pants off.....
The only way Rudy wins is if the Dems are dumb enough to nominate Hillary because she's one of the few candidates for president who is more out of touch with middle America than Rudy....

Pugs move to the left on cultural issues. Dems move (further) to the right on economic issues.
Voila! Indistinguishable corporate drones.
Hell, the powers that be won't even need to rig the election.

Same for McCain, Pataki, Whitman. GOP can't run any of them, because the religious right hates them.

The base of the GOP are utter drones who will do whatever the gatekeepers tell them too. And the gatekeepers would love nothing more than a landslide victory with a Giuliani/right-wing nut ticket.

I'm not saying that he's 100 % certain to run, but it's a sure bet that he's examining his chances. If the Bush team really wants him to win, they'll drop Cheney in two years (or less) and make Rudy VP.
I also think he'd be the favorite to win in a crowded field. However, he could easily be beaten if it's a challenge between Giuliani and a single conservative candidate. Provided the arch RW'ers consolidate behind one candidate, Rudy could easily lose.
