I think the press/TV journalists are scared....there's a new way -not them

I saw the MTP roundtable and they went on and on about how the candidates are embracing the internet and eductaing each other as to issues and endorsements.

They are so use to calling the shots and now the handwriting is "on the wall"...those days are over.

We no longer need to listen to TV as to how to think...we can hear directly from the candidates and with knowledge and teaming the voting impact can be significant.

IF there is one thing I would rejoice in seeing is the media pundits and whores being put in their place by the people that can see through their BS and right wing bias.

1. I agree. This is awesome.
There will be strong attempts to eliminate this aspect of the internet, as a result.

4. I totally agree. I thought
the same thing after watching that MTP segment. All of them, except, I believe, Baltz, kept saying "I've never seen anything like this before". It made Tom Brokaw look totally ignorant. Like, how could these people be so active and informed without us telling them what to think. Do you think that perhaps they are getting the message that we don't care what they think, and quite possibly don't even watch them?

5. Take the next step - stop watching! stop reading!

Not the good stuff, obviously. But that's so rare! And if you focus on quality television (Bill Moyers NOW, Link TV - that's about it, right?) and quality journalism, then you'll have so much more time for activism!

Honestly, it's only a source of frustration and outrage, so why give them the ratings? There are much better things to do with your time than watch overpaid hacks pontificate as if they were serious about their jobs.

10. Yes, they do. Kerry went after them legislatively last June and they went
after him to get him out of the picture. They denigrated his campaign, mocked him, gave most of the media focus to another candidate and declared his campaign dead.

Funny how that works, eh?

Kerry Seeks to Reverse FCC's "Wrongheaded Vote"
Commission decision may violate laws protecting small businesses; Kerry to file Resolution of Disapproval

Washington, DC - Senator John Kerry today announced plans to file a "Resolution of Disapproval" as a means to overturn today's decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to raise media ownership caps and loosen various media cross-ownership rules.

Kerry will soon introduce the resolution seeking to reverse this action under the Congressional Review Act and Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act on the grounds that the decision may violate the laws intended to protect America's small businesses and allow them an opportunity to compete.

As Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Kerry expressed concern that the FCC's decision will hurt localism, reduce diversity, and will allow media monopolies to flourish. This raises significant concerns about the potential negative impacts the decision will have on small businesses and their ability to compete in today's media marketplace.

In a statement released earlier today regarding the FCC's decision, Kerry said:

"Nothing is more important in a democracy than public access to debates and information, which lift up our discourse and give Americans an opportunity to make honest informed choices. Today's wrongheaded vote by the Republican members of the FCC to loosen media ownership rules shows a dangerous indifference to the consolidation of power in the hands of a few large entities rather than promoting diversity and independence at the local level. The FCC should do more than rubber stamp the business plans of narrow economic interests.

"Today's vote is a complete dereliction of duty. The Commissioners are well aware that these rules greatly influence the competitive structure of the industry and protect the public's access to multiple sources of information and media. It is the Commission's responsibility to ensure that the rules serve our national goals of diversity, competition, and localism in media. With today's vote, they shirked that responsibility and have dismissed any serious discussion about the impact of media consolidation on our own democracy."

7. Yup. And we better make it count this year.
'Cause if we don't get a human in the white house, AsscrotchBushCoMediaInc will go after the internet, big time.
In fact, it's part of PNAC.

9. PBS & NPR
We should support the traditional media outlets which still have integrity.

Make a donation to NPR and/or PBS in "honor" of Bill O'Rielly (who is lobbying to have funding to NPR cut off).

I did, and I felt so much better afterwards.

11. NPR is not what it used to be, due to corporate sponsorships
Its coverage is no longer objective, its programming is soft on Bush the GOP, and the establishment, I do not longer listen to NPR for this reason and people like Mara Liasson and Juan Williams are regular hosts on Faux.

If the people gave more, we could tell them to give the whores the heave-ho. :)
