WASHINGTON -- Joe Lieberman respects the presidency and likes being wooed. And so, he said Tuesday, he's not ruling out a Bush Cabinet appointment.

"I am a traditionalist," the Connecticut Democratic senator said. "If the president ever calls, you'd have to consider it. But I am very happy to be in the Senate."

At the same time, said Lieberman, "I don't expect an offer, and I have no indications that it will happen."

There's no opening the door a crack in Washington; you're in the game or you're not. And while there's no firm - or even flimsy - signal from the Bush team with regard to Lieberman, there is talk among the connected class in Washington that he could be in the mix for several positions.

There's a certain logic to considering Lieberman to join the GOP team, because he was a strong backer of the Iraq war and Bush's faith-based initiatives.

As awful as Lieberman has been on foreign policy, he's no Zellout by any means. On domestic issues his record is actually pretty decent -- a lot better than whoever Jodi Rell (R-Replaced Corrupt POS Windbag Rowland) would come up with, assuming she has the power to do so in CT.

There is nobody within the state Republican party that could win an election statewide besides those two. I think Rell is highly questionable in 2006 due to her connections to Rowland. I mean, come on, we had 10 years of constant corruption with Rowland, and everybody around Rowland. Was Rell that out of the loop, or did she just turn a blind eye to it?

My dream would be that Dodd runs in 2006 and wins with about 60-65% of the vote and then appoints Dick Blumenthal, John Larson or Rosa DeLauro to fill out his remaining four years.
