"I would rather dance than fight..." says Harry Reid, the new minority |
|
leader in the Senate, "but I know how to fight." I read this in the newspaper today. Oh God, another gelded democrat. Does anyone know if Richard Durbin, who is second in command, has more spine than this jellyfish. Reid sounds entirely out of touch. After the disappointing election and whore MSM, you would think Senator Reid would realize that we, the rank and file, need him to come out swinging. Instead he comes across as Mr. Peabody.

& talked about it.
Leahy is liberal, but was very happy about Reid.

i heard Byrd said that Reid was the best person he saw to serve as whip in his years in the senate. and while Byrd is not liberal, i think most on here would agree he isn't afraid to stand up to Bush.

14. that phrase isn't a boxing analogy |
|
dancing and fighting are both expected in a professional boxing match. Clearly the man meant (if this phrase is in fact correct and not taken out of context) he would much rather talk his way through a disagreement then to stand toe to toe with someone. The man's heart comes from a good place but he, Pelosi and every other Dem leader we have come across as weak laughing stocks. Don't expect a massive shift support (average everyday Americans) to weaklings like this.

and he'll agree with more of the Bush agenda than he'll bother to oppose.
That might be a good thing. We're overdue for a real civics lesson.

6. I think the thing to focus on is "but I know how to fight". |
|
We'd all rather get along, wouldn't we? Don't you wish that Bush and people like Leahy, Byrd, Feingold and the Clintons could all just sit down like civilized people, discuss their differences and agree to a compromise solution that benefited as many people as possible?
I wish we could do that, and so does Reid. I think he knows that it won't happen. He's just positioning himself by saying "I wish we could work together, but you won't let us... so let's get the struggle started". I think it's more along the lines of preemptive smearing, so later when the Repubs. are being jerks he can say "I offered you my cooperation and you wouldn't take it, so I'm justified in being as hardline as you are".
I think this could be the first head-fake in a long boxing match. Stop bashing him.

|
Durbin is great don't get me wrong but everyone is totally wrong about Reid, Reid played a large part fillibustering Bush's judges and played a large role in getting Jeffords to leave the republican party.

Seriously. Sen. Reid is top notch and is using exactly the right terminology. Of all the Senators, I trust Sen. Reid the most as a leader.
