I need verification that I said the right thing to Repug
I never reply to Repugs because I never know the exact right thing to say but this poster has been bugging me for a while now but I want to make sure I said the right thing.. Pathetic I know.. lol

From a message board related to business so I'm not going to link it:

From a repug:
Are you suggesting that parents do not have the right to screen the TV viewing of their children and that a family viewing event should be tarnished without warning to the parents? Do you realize the serious implications of such a view? Hey lets turn all the kids over to the liberals to raise, the heck with the parents. Oops I forget, that is what liberals are trying to do in the US public school system. My bad. Now I see why liberals think it was OK. They don't think parents should be allowed to raise up their kids in the way they view as correct. It is no wonder that CBS, the voice of liberals, was the network on which this event happened. Now I get it. You liberals really do have an agenda don't you? How about just letting us raise our children in a God fearing way without trying to interfere?
********************************

From ME:
A flash of skin is more harmful than the violence of a football game?

For the split second that it was on do you think kids that were young enough NOT to have seen this already in heath class even understood what was going on or what the fuss was about?

Neocons don't mind that the cheerleaders skirts barely reach their navel but they are STILL up in arms about some crap that happened almost a year ago...

There are really more important things to concern yourself with like the thousands of innocent Iraqi people we are killing in the name of freedom. Or the fact that so many of our Armed Service men and women are being forced to serve more than their required tour of duty. Or the fact that the Selective Service is gearing up to check their rolls against the DOA (this especially concerns me as I am draft age and so is my Fiancee.) Or the incredibly numerous voting irregularities that have disenfranshised thousands of voters therby taking their democratic rights away. Or the fact that the dollar is at an all time low and sinking fast. Once the dollar plummets then our economy is screwed.

Or how about the EPA going to Duvall county and picking the most uneducated and poorest people to ask them to put their children in danger by exposing them to numerous toxic chemicals all so they can get $970.00 and a pretty video camera. These are toxins that the EPA already knows are Toxic but they were given 2.7 million dollars by the chemical industry to do this. A GOVERNMENT organization accepting private funds in order to prove already known data false OR make it appear that way.

You are So concerned about what children see on television that you must be concerned with their general health as well. Right?

Ethics? Morals? How do you defend the GOP reversing THEIR OWN rule stating that indicted leaders must step down so that Delay can continue to be the House leader?

Liberal is NOT a dirty word spew it with hate all you want but some of our greatest leaders and best programs were liberal.

2. Ok your anwer was very rational and
full of facts, BRAVO... except... they are in another world, they are in a faith based world, facts don't matter

I have found out that the best way to deal with these people is to ignore them

Cruel, maybe, but they don't care.

Tehy will only get a fricking clue when their kids (who just saw some skin before a football game) get drafted and then are exposed to the full pornography that is war

They may get a clue when they are starving after the economy crashes (further that is) and they will STILL blame Clinton for it.

They may get a freacking clue when their parents have to choose between dawg food and medicine, because Medicare is gone

That is when they may get a freaking clue

These days I don't reason whith these freaks, I just attack them and call them Regresive and fanatical and fascists... because that is what they are

3. perhaps you should remind him/her
that back in the day the conservative position was to "stay the course" and not break with england. had it not been for liberals (and, yes, the FRENCH) our national anthem would be "God save the Queen"!

4. Funny how they never criticize the shows on FOX
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 12:30 AM by xray s
FOX is the king of T&A. FOX is also all about profits. Whatever sells is good. Sex sells. Conservative corporations like Marriot are all to happy to support the porn industry to make a buck and sell it in their hotel rooms.

Sex on TV has absolutely nothing at all to do with liberal politics. It has everything to do with good old fashioned 'God Bless America' capitalism!

5. Another thing to add...
An excellent reply but there is something you could add:

It was ABC - the channel of Disney and family-centered programming, not CBS

9. According to a google search it was CBS
Darn I was looking forward to using that :)

It was ABC that had the lady jumping into the arms of the football player which is much more recent.

10. ABC! Mickey's home base!! Wholesome Entertainment!
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 12:38 AM by proudbluestater
And it is ALSO ABC who owns many of the stations that carry the EXTREMELY obscene Rush Limbaugh, day after day.

Yes, family values matter -- only sometimes to ABC.

Now ABC Family is carrying the 700 Club. Did anybody notice? "We pay no taxes and the only thing we preach about is hating Democrats."

I have turned OFF commercial tv except for the Daily Show.

You can tell the guy listens to talk radio. Liberal, liberal, liberal. Rememeber y'all, first they came for the feminists and renamed them feminazis. Then they came for gays. Now they come for liberals.

Yeah, it was CBS that showed Janet's boob. Like you said originally in your reply, wake up to the real obscenities.

13. No SHIT!!! The only people who run ads on news shows
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 12:43 AM by proudbluestater
are the big drug companies. I am frankly tired of hearing about how you guys will get your next hard on. If you judged the seriousness of the problem by the number of ads, you'd have to assume that 90% of the men are impotent! I know that's not true, of course!

We have pharmacists who refuse now to dispense birth control. How many refuse to dispense Viagra?

Thanks to all of you that read and responded. I'm not new to politics but am new to having so many people disagree with me and am having problems expressing my views without being trounced on as anti American or as just a retarded liberal.

I probably should just let it go and realize that there is no reasoning with these people.. *sigh*
What happened to intelligent discourse in this country?

12. Two points
1. Since when is Monday Night Football family entertainment?

2. If liberals are the ones telling everyone how to raise their children, then why are conservatives constantly trying to cram creationism down students' throats and mandate prayer in school?

14. Blame if all on the liberals, Rush and Newt said so
I don't believe any of this is the "fault" of liberals. Liberalism in America would be MODERATE in Europe, that's how regressive we liberals are in the US.

The conservatives don't want sex ed taught in schools. They want it all "abstinence-based." Well, fine if it works, but we tried that and -- news flash! It didn't work! Telling kids to not have sex and giving no further information did not help. Kids are going to have sex. Best we prepare them for it so they will understand the consequences going in.

Prayer in school? This has been going on for soooo GD long. I remember saying to my kid, "what the hell is wrong with praying on the bus???????" Why does the SCHOOL have to do it?
