What an empty take on supposed morality. By all politicians, granted the Republicans are shameless exploiters of the whole values debate. Whenever I hear a Republican talking about values and morality I always think about Bob Barr. Barr was one of the House Managers who tried Clinton during the big impeachment fiasco and is well known as a staunch social consvervative. Barr is such a family values kind of guy that he cheated on his wife and when he found out that she was pregnant, he forced her to have an abortion. This guy drove his own wife to the abortion clinic, dropped her off and drove away. Great man.

It's a good thing that we have honest Conservatives who abide by their values systems and all, like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and Bill Bennett. Oh, never mind.

2. Any time someone throws values in my direction, I have a pat response.
"I know! Wouldn't it be awesome if conservative politicians actually practiced what they preach? Thank goodness we have liberals who act on compassion and set a positive example for our youth."

5. So am I. The word is interests, not values.
I substitute the one for the other and the truth emerges quickly.

7. So to adopt values
I will have to hate gays, brown people, and women, right?
I will have to hate abortion just as much as I love prison torture.
I will have to believe in preemptive war as a holy mission.
I will have to base my feelings about the rest of the world based on the idea that only American Christians are moral, no matter how many divorces they get, and monogamous gays are endangering marriage.

No, I think I am going to remain a sinner.

9. Adopt values?
Why would you adopt values when you already have an excellent set of your own?

8. It's the catspaw that keeps the Reconstrutionists distracted.
The Repiglican Party's real agenda is business's agenda: undo all the social safety net laws on the books going back to the New Deal. These guys don't give a rat's ass about "moral" values. As long as it keeps the Bible thumpers' tits in an uproar and keeps them coming back to vote Repig their going to play this tune.

10. Repubs have moral values. Democrats have moral credibility.
That's my response to the "moral values" platitude attitude.

Values without credibility is worthless. It's like having a lot of checks in your checkbook but no money in the bank.

Repubs are NSF when it comes to moral credibility.
