Al Sharpton would be president - elect right now. |
|
He's the only candidate who really spoke the truth about George Bush. He's the only candidate who could have sharpened the contrast between the candidates. The red staters would have listened to the Reverand, because he is a religious man. Additionally, he demonstrated strong fundraising support from Republicans in the primaries, showing his broad appeal.

3. Practically anyone could have won all 3 debates against Bush. |
|
Sharpton would have set off Bush in a major way, it would have been great to watch.

10. Anybody but Kerry, evidently |
|
...otherwise "liberal minded" people at work actually perceived that while Kerry "won" the first debate, they thought that Bush had taken the other two. Of course I asked "WTF were you watching?"
Upshot: Kerry blew it, he should have gone in for the kill. We KNEW the debates were the only venue where the democratic points would be given air time. And he held back for fear of looking "mean". Although he did indeed look "mean" when he called a lesbian a lesbian. Why the hell did he do that? That was another reason cited as a plus for Bush. People at work thought that was uncalled for. When I told them it was no secret that she was gay, they rounded on my rightfully by saying that it was a surprise to THEM. They feel Kerry "outed" an innocent individual. Left many with a bad opinion of Kerry. He blew two of his scheduled 15 minutes, and it's obvious that that's all that he was going to get
Kerry's performances in the last two debates were constipated. Bush was able to give the illusion of winning because he wasn't obviously put in his place and exposed as the simpleton he is and was in the first debate. Was Kerry told to back off? What happened.

If nothing else a debate would have been wonderful entertainment. The man can deliver a speech.

6. In his speech at Dem convention he said something the Dems should have |
|
used in their election campaign. I thought it was a very important but I never heard it mentioned again...The Republicans were constantly telling African Americans that the Democrats took them for granted....What the Dems should have answered with was Sharpton's words from his convention speech..."We didn't come this far playing political games. It was those that earned our vote that got our vote. We got the Civil Rights Act under a Democrat. We got the Voting Rights Act under a Democrat. We got the right to organize under Democrats."
