4. "New Dealer" if you mean . . . |
|
. . . a belief the federal government must regulate the economy and provide an equal playing field on the social issues (race, education, health care); plus a belief in the progressive income tax; plus a belief in the projection of American power in the world to support democratic values.
FDR is still the paradigm, in my book.

9. Does the Supreme Court count as a single issue? |
|
It's the only real test by which I measure Democratic candidates. Once they pass my court nominee acceptability test, I look purely at electability..

18. Existentialist Democrat |

I believe as times change policies change but some laws are timeless. What is correct policy today may be completely wrong 100 years from now depending upon what our challenges are. I strongly believe in Moral Relativism but also believe the Bill of Rights are a masterpiece. I believe in the balance created by the left and the right but think we have moved too far to the Right. I believe we need both conservatives and liberals but it's time for the liberals to speak up and be proud once again. I believe in as Thoreau Said:
Strike The Root There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root. Thoreau
With this I believe that liberals are more effective at solving real problems in a way that will last. Republicans would rather hack at the branches of evil by building more prisons and attacking country's with force rather than diplomacy. I believe in people even the bad ones. They were all once Innocent little babies waiting to be molded into something good or something ignorant and hate filled. I think thats the main difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are more Christ like. We love our enemy's, don't judge, and we forgive. Republicans follow none of these teachings.
