Neutral Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack on the media's MLK misadventure

Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, who was a scheduled speaker, said Dean was only trying to pay his respects to the late civil rights leader but decided to leave when he realized the media would overshadow the event.

Was Governor Vilsack lying?

2. In this instance
Maybe not. But he has been known to be a liar before. He betrayed Iowa's hard workers' by signing a tort deform bill that he ran against in the general election. He is an opportunist amongst us.

5. Link please
As I recall he vetoed much of the package, made some compromises, but managed to pretty much piss of the Republicans. Vilaseck has been between a rock and a hard place his entire term, trying to fix the damage of years of RW rule with a large number of RW legs - I don't recall the split, but don't they have the majority?

Anyway, all I found on the betrayal - guess thats why the right is suing him?

Iowa Pols Sue Guv For Veto of WC & Tort Reforms

August 7, 2003

Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack's line item veto of legislation that supporters say would have improved the state's business climate is being challenged in court.

Republican legislators filed a lawsuit late last week that challenges the governor's constitutional ability to line item veto non-appropriation legislation. Gov. Vilsack signed portions of House File 683 that creates the Iowa Values Fund and House File 692 that deals with tax and regulatory policy. However, he line-item vetoed portions of both bills.
