Either they are right or wrong. If they say what you want them to say, they are anecdotal.

45. Quite normal actually
Approval ratings usually rise after an election and immediately after a president is sworn in. After Bush was sworn in in 2001, his approval rating was 60%, and I suspect Kerry would have had a similar approval rating around this time had he won.

That doesn't mean the approval rating will stay there. It'll likely fall after a few months of the 2nd bush term. Just wait.

43. 20% of Kerry supporters
10% of 100% is 20% of 50%.

That said, it doesn't really surprise me. People tend to have a "rally 'round the leader"-feeling following any election. After Bush was sworn in in 2001 his approval rating was 60% as well.

Had Kerry won I think he'd have had similar approval ratings at this point.

6. Polls, polls, polls......
The tool of the media to get us to fall in line. They used these polls throughout the primaries and the general election to manipulate and sway the sheeples to fall in line. I noticed that they selectively use whatever poll they want (whichever has the result they want).......

These doggone polls should be outlawed....especially 30 days out prior to an election.

14. Not really approval rating. That is the % of people who cannot admit
things are as bad as they are or bush* is as bad as he is. That 60% number is more an indicator of the state of mental health/ability to deal with reality than approval of a particular imbecile in office.

38. CNN is the whore of pollsters. After the election,
they proclaimed that the Gallup Poll said that Dubya had a 55% approval rating. The surge in approval was likened to the election surge when LBJ and Nixon were re-elected.

Then someone pointed out that their (LBJ and Nixon) approval ratings were in the 60 percentile.

CNN has been trolling the polling since that day to get Dubya's numbers in the 60's.

they were manipulating the pols at least 6% in favor of bush to bring what they called the pol of pols over 50%in favor of bush before the election. so it wouldn't surprise me if they were up to their old tricks because i think this mistrust of bush and the elections thing is getting out of hand.

chunk of the populace that did not vote for the guy and who will NEVER approve of his handling of anything.

The polls are screwed up. They are like the curtain that hid the Professor in the Wizard of Oz. Pull the curtain away and you have an imposter, not the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz.

How many DUers are there? A few thousand? Representing every state in the union and NONE of us are ever polled?

We are all active. We are likely voters. We would participate in polls.

But none of us are ever asked this question.

Makes me wonder who they ask when they conduct these things.

30. I do...
Bush's approval has gotten up that high at times in his first term.

I think what you're seeing here is a natural fallout from the election -- people see that Bush "won," so jump on the bandwagon. It will drop back to normal levels as time goes on.

Unfortunately, this will hurt us in our bid to recount Ohio and possibly overturn the election result -- another reason why Kerry shouldn't have conceded so soon. By not fighting publicly, he has helped reinforce the notion that Bush is the undisputed winner, thus allowing the bandwagon syndrome to take effect.

I certainly won't go online and respond to them. All polls are now worthless, except outside the United States. If anyone should happen to call me, I'll ask them to call bush and ask him what my opinion is.

There is just no reason whatsoever to participate in or believe any polls until the manipulation of this tainted election is exposed.

39. I have decided to agree with Straight Shooter
I tried to find a link and the only one I could find through cnn search was also the polling report and it was done on 11/19/04.
60% is what they reported this morning and used a graphic comparing the new numbers to pre-election numbers. I really wanted to know if you all thought this was media manipulation or not. It was the first thing that came into my mind. My mistake for watching cnn. in the first place. Ordinarily I don't.

I also agree that this is another way to protect the chimp from the voter fraud issue.

48. I looked for some information
on the CNN site too but couldn't find any approval rating poll. I also saw Polling Report. PR has the result of different polls with the highest approval rating of 55%. CNN did have a poll on their politics page asking in what area do you think * will have his greatest success in the next term: Iraq War? Tort Reform? Permanently Cutting Taxes? or Social Security Reform?

Unfortunately, the poll doesn't include any of the obvious choices where * will have "success."

I don't watch CNN because I think they make stuff up (and not just political stuff) and are really not all that bright.

It is very typical for a politican who recently won election to experience a bounce in the polls. Bush will continue to be a miserable failure and to pursue policies harmful to the country and more and more Americans. I just hope that the democrats are prepared and willing to take advantage of Bush's committment to bankrupting the country both morally and financially.
