To Clark Staffers: That woman was not just a homemaker
Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 02:16 PM by grasswire
If there are any Clark staffers lurking here, please take note.

A woman known to harrass Al Gore and other Dems about the alleged Broaddrick rape issue tried to snag Clark at a public appearance.

Her name is Katherine Prudhomme-Bailey, and she is a long-time freeper. Here's what she wrote on freerepublic:

"I just met Wes clark, about 15 minutes ago at the Gerrish Community Center hear in Derry, NH. He didn't call on me during the town hall meeting so I approched him afterwards. I asked about General Sir Micheal Jacksons comment about not wanting to start WW3 for Clark when Clark ordered troops to prevent Russians from taking Kosovos Pristina Airport near the end of the war.

Clark told me that Jackson was exhausted and hystserical when he said that." implying that he didn't really mean that. "Would you do the same thing again ?" I asked. He said "yes". "Try to block Russian troops from taking the airport? "Yes" Clark said. Thats when Clark took off his microphone and nervously fumbled with the off switch." "Make sure this thing is off.." he mumbled to himself. "Why are you taking off your microphone?" I demanded? He said he didn't like talking about another officer like that and he didn't know who I was, why I was there and "Look, these comments are off the record, okay?" "What!" I said...."I'm a homemaker, here in Derry. I'm not a reporter or anything. Your going to have to answer these questions in public, you know, your going to have to tell me and the public, these comments shouldn't be off the record.I would have liked to ask you in front of everybody but you didn't call on me." He said he would the next time he is in town. I hope he meant that. His wife asked me if I have read his(Wes Clarks)book, I have not. She said I would understand if I read the book. I'll go to the Derry Library on Monday morning for it. Then a guy from Clarks campaign wanted my name and phone # so he could follow up with me. I'll keep you posted. I wonder what General Sir Micheal Jackson would say about this exchange."

She also has attended a Dean event in NH to grill him with hard questions.

1. incidentally, she also goes on right-wing radio
.....to bash Dems, so her characterization of herself as a homemaker isn't totally accurate.

2. The English Gen. Jackson Was Foolish And Insubordinate
There would have been no repercussions whatever from blocking the little Russian force, and doing so would have made matters a little smoother in Kossovo at the time. There was no great lasting harm done by Gen. Jackson's foolishness, however, and the whole thing is rather a tempest in a tea-pot.

3. Golly, he answered the questions, didn't he?
Both in person to her and in writing in his book.

I'd suggest that he tell anyone who asks to read his book, and promise to autograph it if they brought a copy next time.

I liked the "and nervously fumbled with the off switch." line.

I'd wonder what General Jackson has to say, as well. I've noticed none of Clark's critics have expanded on anything they said in the past, despite month after month of opportunity. Cohen told FAUX (the WWE of Journalism) NEWS point blank that he wouldn't discuss it and Shelton appears to have disappeared into a black hole. Even Stormin' Norman backpedaled big time on his last appearance.

The more this happens, the better it works to Clark's advantage. He isn't offering a dare to the media, a la Gary Hart back in the day. He's simply saying that if they want to know what these guys are talking about, they should ask them.

It must have really made Shelton feel proud to hear his words repeated by Milosovic in the Hague. Good to know someone appreciates you.

6. I've never seen Clark "nervously" fumble
anything. Funny and the woman is ridiculous - maybe if she had read some books instead of FR, she would have known the answers to those questions.

9. No need to wonder...
Mike Jackson on WWWIII Comment:

War is the Easy Part
Dominc Lawson & Sean Rayment, The Sunday Telegraph 2/23/03

“Mike Jackson: The circumstances surrounding KFOR's entry into Kosovo and, in particular, the circumstances which surrounded Pristina airport, which lasted for about 48 hours, were very peculiar to the extraordinarily complex political situation at that point. But I'm not trying to duck the issue. When the stakes are high and you have commanders quite rightly determined to succeed in the mission they have been given, opinions can vary and there can be friction. This is human nature in a way, and military history is full of incidents whereby, under pressure of events, there have been disagreements but which then are overcome”

8. Why do republicans do the things they do?
She would support a Satan/Hitler ticket if they were running against the Democrats. Never underestimate the depths of depravity to which the insane will sink.

7. Didn't see it
But it sounds like Clark handled it well. I'd love to see this woman get called on next time. I'm sure Clark's answer would make her look follish.

11. I hate to defend her, but...
She was participating in the democratic process. Her only "sin" was asking a pointed, critical question to my candidate. If he can't handle that, he shouldn't be running. This is exactly why we ahve a democracy, so that leaders can be confronted and be held accountable.

Of course the upshot was that Clark did handle the situation appropriately and quite handily. He remains classy in the testiest of situations. Good on him. But good on this Freeper lady for doing her job as a citizen. I wish to God George Bush were this accessible.
