The best weapon to use in any debate/argument with Bush supporters |
|
Army Enlistment form: http://www.army.mil/usapa/eforms/pdf/A3286_65.PDFPrint a few out, keep them with you in your backpack or in a book. The next time you find some asshat bloviating about the Great Patriotic Wars and the joys of America under Bush, hand the form to them. This is best with asshats between the ages of 18 and 35, but it is effective for all age groups.

We have an all-voluntary army and they don't need any more people. I've tried it several times, but great idea. I hope others try it. At the very least, it pisses them off

4. You can point out a few things... |
|
When many of them signed up we weren't at war. Many of those volunteers are being kept in far longer than they had agreed to serve. By signing up, not only do they relieve the pressure on our military that is stretched far too thin (almost to the breaking point, really) they may provide much needed relief for troops already serving. If these are co-workers, friends, people you know...talk up their strong points: organization, leadership, etc. and point out how these would be particularly useful in the military! These people claim to be patriots who love their country (and many of them love guns as well). What better opportunity to combine two things they love so much. By joining the military, they get to shoot big guns AND support the country. What more could they ask for?
Oh, and when talking to them about signing up, be sure to sing (or just speak) a few lines from the song immortalized by that great chicken hawk, Lee Greenwood: "I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today"
And in some cases I have hauled out the big guns: pictures of friends of mine who are serving in Afghanistan, Iraq or "in the theater" supporting this misadventure.

9. And when they refer to the all-volunteer military . . . |
|
Remind them that the Marine Corps is now offering up to $30,000 for reups, with a special emphasis on troops with combat experience.

I know how much you support President Bush and the war effort in Iraq, but have noticed you haven't signed up to fight yet. It might be because you are too busy, or maybe you just didn't know how easy it is to join! I know you probably feel guilty about sending other young men and women off to die in your place, so I am sure you'll take this opportunity to do the right thing: Sign up for a tour or two in Iraq today! If you are too old to join, but have kids age 17-34, be sure to sign them up for service in your place! It's patriotic families like yours that make this country work!

12. Ha Ha! It worked. I sent the link to my repub co-worker |
|
After he sent me a picture of a little kid with a repub t-shirt. Now my co-worker is really pissed and says: "we don't live in china or Russia, we have an all volunteer army".
Here is the response I am working on now...hehe:
Mike,
Yes, it is. Oh, but wait a minute, I guess you haven’t heard about the fathers of small children being required to stay past their original “volunteered for” tours of duty. I guess you haven’t heard about the court cases all around the country of people fighting forced re-enlistment after they have already served. I guess you haven’t heard about the Inactive ready reserve being called up.
Why haven’t you volunteered? Haven’t you been reading the papers? Those poor kids over there are stretched beyond their means. They are being kept past their original terms and are in need of help. Also, enlistment is way down so they are in need of truly patriotic Americans to help us in this life or death struggle against the terrorists.
Bush wants to increase troop strength by another 40k but they don’t know where they will come from
I’m begging you. Please, please join if you think the war is worth fighting. The next site you see might be a mushroom cloud over New York or even Chicago. They hate us for our freedom and we need young, healthy, straight men to fight for our freedom.
Please join today. I’ll give you a ride to the recruiters office

If I have the name and contact info for the person cheering the war, then I sign them up to receive info and maybe a visit from the recruiter.

11. We've got to fight the disinformation and change minds. We must do it. |
|
Dealing with ignorance is tiresome but we must do it every day.
We need to learn how to speak to those who are so terribly disinformed about the current crop of war criminals.
Face the parade of ignorance and start redirecting the march to extinction we're on.
Smile and stick with facts. Know your shit. Start with our own families at the holidays and work up to strangers on the street.
WE MUST CHANGE PEOPLE'S MINDS OR WE ARE FUCKED, PEOPLE. NO GETTING FLUSTERED AND COPPING OUT AND GIVING UP WITH RUDE GESTURES.
NOT AN OPTION. GET CRACKIN'!
