I Was Asked At Lunch: "Are You A Democrat"? |
|
I admit. I paused.
"I am a Liberal", I said.
not sure what that means but it came out.

4. Who asked and what did he/she say back? |
|
I had a strange experience @ Barnes and Nobel yesterday. A family sitting next to my family overheard me and the kids talking about boycotting x-mas. I had my Big Bush Lies and Bush Dynasty books sitting on the table. i saw the father lean over and whisper something in his wife's ear. (thought I heard Bush, that's all) And then the guy looked at me and winked? I have no clue if it was support or, you're nuts lady! He looked friendly enough though!

8. My guess would be support |

Probably someone who's shy about admitting he's anti-Bush himself.

Seriously, I would have probably said: "On the contrary, I am a liberal"

6. I've never self-identified as a Democrat. |
|
I suppose that's a remnant from my idealistic youth, but I've always labeled myself as independent or liberal. I could never commit myself fully to a political party, because a political party will only disappoint me in the end. So I'm an independent liberal who supports whoever is opposing Republicans (within reason).

14. I answered that question just a few days ago |
|
Normally, if I'm asked if I'm a Democrat I just say "yes I am" and, depending on the situation, I might also add 'born and raised', 'yellow dog' or something like that.
The last time I was asked I blurted out "I'm a progressive" without thinking. Not sure what that means either.
