Would the "2nd Amendment" eventually be "scrapped" with the rest?? |
|
This Administration has "scrapped" so much of the Constitution, I wonder what other "freedoms" which will be next in "obliterating" our Democracy? It is not that I defend or exude any support for this amendment, but, I pose this question, as I would submit it to the NRA. Which Amendments of the Bill of Rights would you wish to see DE-democratized? Which Articles and sections of the United States Constitution would you care annul in favor of the "SECOND AMENDMENT"?
I own no guns, but, I have no problem with the 2nd Amendment. OK! NOW! Have we come to point where this amendment is so sanctimonious in its creation, and to its "believers", that it is more important than other amendments and parts of the Constitution which are being progressively stripped of, in their force, upon the democratic principles that the 2nd Amendment would allow us to defend?
Perhaps, when it is too late, will those who support the "Second Amendment" find that the rest of our Constitution and The Bill of Rights were just as important. If there is noting left to defend, why would we care for the guns??
U.S. Constitution: Second Amendment Second Amendment - Bearing Arms
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

1. A great way to get the Red State Voters to hate Bush... |
|
Just tell 'em he wants to take away all their guns.
Actually, given the fascist way in which this administration has been behaving, I'm starting to wonder if the gun nuts were right all along. Stockpiles and militias...good grief.

the 2d Amendment is about a state having a National Guard and having a shotgun for duck hunting?

... is stupid enough to tamper with the one freedom the restriction of which would truly lead to revolution.
Don't worry about the 2nd amendment.

6. It probably depends on how ... |
|
they intend to keep control when they start shipping people off to camps. You know, when things finally get bad enough that some people might actually want to do something about it. You know, when it's too late. Either they will rely on local militias, with their guns, to police everybody or they'll make sure they've already gathered up all the guns so only their "army" will have them. :tinfoilhat:

The song had nothing to do with politics; that part of it went along with a relationship gone awry! I loved her very much; as I do this country. It's just in my mind it seems so appropriate sometimes.

they'll spin it as something else that sounds good. Like, let's see, something like: Securing Our Homeland Armament For Freedom.
The sheeple are easily fooled by simple changes of language accompanied by soothing news anchors.
"Fox News said it was ok, so I guess I better go turn in my guns for freedom!"

...their well-armed brown-shirts to be their regulators. I maintain that if liberals start arming themselves, then conservative politicians will suddenly be in favor of gun control.

13. The 2nd Amendment will be the last to go, if it goes at all |
|
Because the Busheviks, EVEN NOW, have so mastered the Orwellian Unreality Game, that they could take it away while shrieking from the top of their and the Party-Loyal Sub-Media's lungs that they continue to support it, but are just taking the guns from "them".
And it would work. Hell, I think it would work NOW if they started.
But no...that would be moving too fast and rosky. This isn't BushPutinist Russia.
This is BushPutinist Amerika.
The 2nd Amendment will be the last to go.

A total gun ban would be in the Chimpus Khan adminstraion's best interest. Look around just here on DU. How many of us have read that our fellow dems are at least talking about arming themselves?
And to think that, as they move to exercise even more control (and more suppression of the citizenry's rights), what good would it serve them to have an armed citizenry?
I'm just sayin' .......

other amendments. A dictatorship could easily be enforced. I proclaim that my ability along with the millions of gun owners in this country preclude such a coup from taking place. Look, as much as I resent the Bush admin....I'm not a tinfoiler. Our rights, like search and seizure, roving wiretaps etc...started eroding under Clinton. All in the name of law enforcement. What's new?
