Possible strategy for taking back the DNC? |
|
Suppose that we (DUers, progressives, etc) each mailed to the DNC an "IOU", telling them that when they choose to be more progressive (say by choosing Dean...), we will follow up with a contribution of whatever amount the IOU was for...
Just a thought that might get their attention...

we can all swtich to the Green Party, especially useful in open primary states... but still swtich parties... they do pay attention to this.
That said, you want to change the party?
Good...
Get your ass down to the local precinct and ahem not only volunteer but volunteer to run for precinct party chairman, et al. You need to get active INSIDE and take over the damn party
This is how the righties did it.
Lets learn the good things they can teach us... how to take a party...

3. A more effective approach... |
|
1. The DNC will be determined by those who actually run for office 2. REQUIRE that anyone who is running be PROUD to be a democrat, i.e., the following: a. They must always campaign as DEMOCRATS, not simply their name, as many did this last time b. They must not compromise with the Republicans. This is a political war and we are the OPPOSITION. NO COMPROMISE. NO WEAKNESS. If they show ANY such cow-towing, then we put someone up to run so that they are to be voted out in the primaries. BTW, people are not stupid, they can smell a mealy-mouthed candidate. We just need to make sure that they no longer get past the primaries. c. The platform must also be uncompromising, and that means LIBERAL/PROGRESSIVE. This need is so patently obvious that it will take all of the current DNC's fear-mongering and spin to try to minimize, obfuscate, etc. d. We also need to move past the inclusion argument. I do not want to be "inclusive" to Republican assholes. We do not need to compromise for them. We are the opposition. No compromise.

5. money does talk. I remember Al Gore, remember him? |
|
He said that he would not run this time because the "money" part of the Democratic Party didn't want him to. Somehow I don't think our IOUs will add up to the same weight.

It might get their attention! I also am planning on getting more involved at my local level. There are actually quite a few local problems that people (even regressives) seem to be leaning towards progressive solutions on. Maybe I can help them along with that. :)
