Bush inauguration: "A virtual fortress, unprecedented levels of security"

Protesters Don't Feel the Love in D.C.

WASHINGTON — Anti-war protesters planning to come to town for President Bush's inauguration in January say they remain undeterred despite reports that Washington, D.C., is going to be a virtual fortress, with unprecedented levels of security, including military forces and every relevant local, state and federal agency on alert.

While the Department of Homeland Security recently designated the Jan. 20 inauguration a National Special Security Event, thus putting into place multi-agency security for the presidential swearing-in ceremony, parade and inaugural balls, protest organizers like Brian Becker of ANSWER (Act Now To Stop War And Racism) say the move is less a response to post-Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist threats, and more a way to discourage demonstrators. "It's not the first time that the Bush administration has used national security and the war on terrorism as a pretext to determine who can exercise free speech and whose free speech rights should be put on the back burner," Becker told FOXNews.com.

Pageantry Planned for Bush Inauguration

WASHINGTON — When President Bush takes his second oath of office Jan. 20, it will be his family's fifth inauguration ceremony, a day of pomp and pageantry set amid the icons of democracy only this city can provide: the U.S. Capitol, the White House, Pennsylvania Avenue.

With 21-gun salutes, fancy-dress balls and tighter-than-ever security, the day will resemble nothing so much as a coronation. "We don't have the unifying effect of a king or queen. As a result, over the centuries America has developed traditions that encourage stability and public confidence. That's what an inauguration is," said Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia. Among those traditions are: a preinaugural church service for the incoming president and first lady, a congressional escort to the Capitol for the public swearing-in, a presidential inaugural address that sets forth a vision for the new term, a luncheon in the Capitol's famed Statuary Hall and a 1.7-mile procession along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House before a massive, cheering crowd.

1. January 20th is just another day on the calendar to me
I will not watch the inauguration or have anything to do with it. It's all just like a big party that I and 58 million others are not invited to.

3. Bush is so Louis XVI
Hated and an idiot who let his cabinet govern for him while the poor got poorer and the rich richer...No wonder he's protecting himself. One wonders just how bad he'll have to protect himself in four years, when he is no longer president.

4. Coronation crowds
...and a 1.7-mile procession along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House before a massive, cheering crowd.

A crowd of pre-selected, loyalty oathed, screened supporters. The real crowd, if allowed, would be massive, but certainly not cheering and certainly not doing what those planning the coronation want.

5. What effort would it take
for news of protests in Washington to trump, or at least "balance" inauguration news?

That would give the other 49% of us something to tune in for on Jan 20th!

And what sex is that Mountie in the picture behind Shrub?

10. Important money-saving tip...
Why doesn't * just circle the White House in Air Force One at 10,000 feet for 15 minutes, phone in the swearing-in, and save the taxpayers all that money?

And he couldn't see or hear the hecklers from that distance neither.

Just sayin'.

20. Protesters should be in Washington BEFORE the "Big" Day

Arrive a few days early!

As far as I know, any privates citizen should be able to visit a Museum, take a cab, sit in an airport, go to a restaurant, tie up traffic,go to a cleaners and they can even,"look like Republicans" and blend in!

The reason that they are pegged before hand is that they usually arrive in big groups and wear buttons and look like Democrats.

I say " Dress and Look like Republicans.":headbang:
Go to the bookstore and get a picture of GWB (puke) and stand in line with the NeoCon and his rich wife.

Blend In!

16. Would you expect anything else from a Totalitarian Nation like Imperial
Amerika?

Our Fuhrer, like Der Fuhrer before him knows he is hated by his own people as deeply as by the rest of the world, Our Fuhrer has a pathological fear of assassination as only one who has seized power illegally can have.

But of course, and Bushevik OHS Thugs take partiuclar note: I am NOT advocating physical harm to Our Fuhrer because he is a symptom of the disease, a pustule and nothing would be served by doing so except to speed the transformation of Imperial Amerika into the brutal horror show it is destined to become.

Free Nations while maintaining security, would not go to extremes required in places like the Soviet Union or Imperial Amerika.

This is exactly what you would expect. Exactly.

17. If tomatoes weren't so damned expensive now...
I'd say the people planning to be cheering jeering along the route of the Royal Procession to the coronation would have about six weeks to let them get GOOD and ripe for the occasion.

And I hate to waste eggs, so I guess the most appropriate thing to do is to take four friends along so that, combined, boosh** will get his "five-fingered wave."

18. "before a massive, cheering crowd."
The ONLY reason there will be a 'massive, cheering crowd' is because protesters won't be allowed anywhere near King George*. Only those loyal to Bush* will be allowed to speak their minds.

19. Why doesn't he just stand on top of Lenin's Tomb and be done with it?
They can parade the tanks and missile batteries and Marine Corps and the rest of us can get something useful done that day, like grooming the cat and sewing on missing buttons.

21. flashback 2000 | JEERING crowds
the day it rained on Mister Bosh's parade

Scrambled eggs, raw, were on the breakfast menu.
And eggs, raw, and the raw rain streaked the pretty car.

Some stood their ground. Their ground! Shivering.
Furious and bone-chilled,
Ready, in spite of the raw wind, their raw eggs ready.

The election was a deception
And we see right through you.

Smack smack smack. The impact? Unreported.
The raw rage of patriots supremely raped.

The election was a deception
And we see right through you.

Mister Bosh scurries away, in his raw rage, keeping his coat
Out of harm's way. Missus Bosh takes his trembling hand:

Ta-ta and cranberries! Best to be out of it
And not risk catching a cold shoulder.

Seen through the window, as they accelerate,
It appears that the raw, dripping yolk is on his face.
But soon, unreported, the mess is washed away.

The raw deal? Mister Bosh is assured: Nothing will stick.

A Fictitious History of the Occupancy of Prince George, Part the First.
