I'd Like To See A Slim Downed Gore Run In 08...
We ain't never going to carry the deep south... Hell, those yahoos in Alabama voted against removing a pro segregation amendment from their Constitution but Gore can put FL, CO, NM, IA, and OH in play because of his quasi rural background...

I think Gore might be a decent choice in 08 especially if the Pugs go with a Bill Frist or George Allen type...

1. the problem isn't his weight
I've got to disagree here. Frankly, I can't imagine a worse choice than Gore. The only thing I liked about Gore was Darrel Hannah's impersonation of him.
He's not perceived as a Southerner because he's been in DC so long. Remember, he didn't even carry his home state of TN.
IA should never have been in play for the Republicans in the first place. Any number of good Democrats could carry IA, and those other states will be in play regardless.

2. Gore could win
if he had Oprah as a running mate.

Then again, the wingnuts would slime her noting she never married that Stedmann fellow, which means she's probably gay.

I almost feel like he deserves another chance just because he had it stolen from him.

That said, I also want to win...and I'm not sure how well Gore would do. Maybe Warner or one of the other current Dem governors would be a better candidate.

I'm really leaning toward not nominating a senator though.

9. The problem I have with Gore is the media have
a whole lot invested in the smears they perpetuated against him in the last cycle. The whole "inventing the internet" thing, and the "dress like a farmer," and on and on and on. How could they back down from all that stuff if Gore ran again? It would make the media whores of 1998 - 2000 look particularly bad, and most of them, like that sick bitch Dowd, are still around.

11. It's a different media.
The media of Nixon's day wouldn't lie and make shit up whole cloth. They were largely real old school journalists, old school because they founded the school. Most of the people who are out there now are soulless hacks, with no integrity at all, particularly in the cable media.

Imagine, for example, the "Invented the internet' bullshit passing muster with Edward Murrow or Cronkite. Or imagine Murrow commenting on whether Gore wore a blue suit or earth tones to a speech, as though it were more important than the speech itself. The media blasted Nixon because he deserved to be blasted; they didn't hunt around for stuff to distort and make him into a person other than who he was, who said things he didn't say. So they had nothing invested in sliming him when he ran again in 1968. The hacks of today though, have a whole lot of lies and distortions to cover for.

12. the media will smear any democratic candidate....didn't you learn that
yet? There is no democratic candidate they can not and will not smear. Gore actually won regardless of those smears. If we clear up the problems with voter supression (probably the reason he lost TN in addition to Fl), Gore has as good a shot as anyone and better than most.
The most important way to pick a candidate is not who we think will win, (Even the worst DLC moron must realize that by now) but because they are expressing the right ideas to govern the country effectively to the benefit of the american people.

13. Gore in 2008
I think Gore would be a good candidate in 2008. I think he has good ideas and could win. I think the reason he lost his home state is the gun control issue.

With voters like you, Britney Spears would be a better idea.

16. Why Did You Have To Pick A Fight With Me?
Al Gore was a very handsome man...

It would be in his interest to knock off a few pounds especially for his health...

He must weigh 275 pounds with a BMI of 40 or so....

Obviuously that's not healthy...
