Ok a silly question....But does anyone else
get the heebie jeebies now when they say 'God Bless' even reading it or seeing it? It ticks me off that Bush had to ruin a good thing, I am sure in time I will get over it. But, I was just wondering if anyone else ever feels this way???

1. I do.
At times it seems downright blasphemous to me, but I don't have time to explain why at the moment. It just rubs me the wrong way when it's thrown about so glibly.

2. Ugh... me too...
I am not a real religious person either, but I do believe in God, I just don't want Bush associated with mine! Creeps me out! ick!

6. That's it exactly.
I am a religious person, but my concept of the divine would be unrecognizable to Bush and Christians. (I separate them because I don't consider Bush to be adhering to the teachings of Christ.) To have him use the word while he carries out his hideous agenda is creepy.

3. I'm a Christian and it irritates the hell out of me
to see or hear "GodTalk" in the public sphere. I didn't used to feel that way, but now that so much of the language is being hijacked for foul purposes, I'd rather not hear it at all. It is not a publicly accessible language. It makes me feel manipulated.

4. yes, absolutely
I find myself cringing now if someone says they are a christian. The only doctor at work who has things on his wall about christian stuff is the one who says things like he is so compassionate, but when push comes to shove he is the nastiest when no one sees him. My daughters roomate was a christian and mean as hell and another christian down the hall freaked out when her roomate was from Japan. Her parents told her not to associate with foreigners. Both my daughter and the girl from Japan have found other roomates. I find myself on the defensive now and preferably stay away.

7. That reminds me of my grandmother.
She used to say, "If you have to tell people you are a Christian than you're not."

5. Especially when it is said without the Nazi salute...how rude. The salute
is necessary to separate the faithful from the fake Christians. the "wannabe's" who are not the True believers.. that *ush is The Christ Returned to save us from the gays.

8. Even worse than that....
I see a flag sticker on a vehicle and expect there to be a raving Busheep lunatic driving it. God and the flag do not belong to these assholes, but they sure as Hell try to make it seem so.

At least Hitler invented his own flag when he changed Germany into a fascist dictatorship. Couldn't Junior and the PNAC'ers come up with their own stupid symbol, rather than raping the US flag and God.

9. Yep.
I dislike the word "Christian" because of so many very bad experiences with very mean-minded rigid nasty little bastards who call themselves such, and now I dislike hearing/reading anything to do with any kind of religion, dogma etc.

10. Oh yeah! It makes me cringe
Glad you mentioned it. It sounds like an order:
Hey you, God. Get your ass out here and give us what we want."

The least they could do is say, "May, God bless America" so that it sounds like they still realize that their wish is not God's command.

11. It is near the point of being meaningless.
When a phrase is repeated enough, it losses it's impact. God has become associated with the * administration to the point that when the truth can no longer be ignored, the religious right will take almost as severe a hit as the administration itself. At least lets hope this administration gets what it deserves along with the religious right for it's support!

12. Oh about ten years ago
These fundies were pissing me off a long time before Bush. He's like the tumor of a cancer, but he's not the cancer itself. That's something growing inside this country, he couldn't be President without the sickness in this country.

13. I feel the same about Purple Hearts
Every night I hear of the killed soldiers in Iraq being awarded posthumous purple hearts. Then I think of the RNC and their stupid purple heart band-aids. How can any military family support Bush?

14. Anymore, as soon as they say it, they automatically lose credibility
with me. That's how bad the chimp's influence has been. Friggen Reagan used to abuse the priveledge, too, and it pissed me off then, too.
