Activists' Holiday Shopping List

Remember, Costco for one-stop shopping, or any natural, crunchy type place like
Giaim.com, Ben & Jerry's or anything with "Organic, Safe Environment, natural
household cleaners," etc. is a safe bet. In other words, any place that cares
about people before profits!

PS Remember - don't use Travelocity for online travel. Expedia, Hotwire,
Hotels.com are all cool.

2. CAn I just ask that people don't boycott P&G
They offer same sex benefits and recently a large organization started a boycott of them because of this and they said their employees are too important to respond to a boycott. This is one Dem that would suffer greatly if P&G is boycotted, also a large percentage of their younger emplyees are Dems so I think the company will change in the next 25 years. They also donate a LOT of money to United Way. I am not excusing the Rep donations but the company is not all bad.

3. I suspect many of the companies on the list are like that
Either the company PACs, largely funded by executive brass in some home office, or the collected donations of the company (again, typically the same people) might not have much to do with the individuals working in other locations or the desicions of managment at lower levels.

I've worked with one particular big box store (not at the store, at the non-profit to which it was donating) that I know heavily supports republicans. However, their company policies allowed for local and regional managers to make donations to charities of their choice so long as it met certain minimum criteria (non-profit status, non-discriminatory, etc.). Some of those people, using compnay money, gave to the good guys.

Again, that's not excusing the larger cash outflows to republicans, or suggesting that people should patron their stores, but it does indicate some complexity in decisions like this.
