So, I joined this Fundamentalist mailing list...
just, you know, to keep an eye on what they're up to and uhm for my own amusement. This is their most recent mailing:

HELP MAKE THE DISPLAY OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS LEGAL IN ALL PUBLIC PLACES

Dear ,

As you know, the Supreme Court is currently studying the Ten Commandments issue. The Supreme Court is not immune to the will of the people. While we cannot directly influence the outcome of the decision by the Supreme Court, we can express our desires as citizens of the United States.

I urge you to join with other Americans in expressing a desire that the Ten Commandments can be legally displayed in all public places. It is important that we have a moral basis for our laws. The Ten Commandments are in essence the foundation for our laws. Should the foundation be destroyed, the building will fall.

Please join me in supporting the display of the Ten Commandments in all public places, including schools and courtrooms.

From time to time the number of Americans who have expressed a desire to see the Ten Commandments legally displayed in public places will be released and forwarded to the Supreme Court. It will take millions of Americans participating for us to be successful.

Thank you for participating in this effort. If we are to be successful, we need you to forward this letter to others today.

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

P.S. Don’t forget to forward this letter to others today. It is very important that they know about and participate in this effort.

The Poor Children in India Have a Friend in Ashish - Please take a few moments to read one man's remarkable story. Ashish has found God's calling for his life: to help as many of the poor children in India as he can.

It's Not Gay: This 28-minute video presents a story that few have heard, allowing former homosexuals the opportunity to tell their own story in their own words. Along with medical and mental health experts, these individuals express a clear warning that the sanitized version of homosexuality being presented to students is not the whole truth.

1. How about this
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 12:34 PM by KurtNYC
We write "Thou shalt not kill" right on the switches of electric chairs and on the tables they use for lethal injection.

"Thou shalt not kill" written on every handgun sold in this country.

"Thou shalt not kill" right on the nuke-ya-ler football.

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me." written next to every adoring picture of *

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image" right next to the above.

Write "Thou shalt not steal" on maps of the Middle East.

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour" should be part of any historical mention of the WMD claims.

But I'm sure that aint what they have in mind.

5. I love it!
It points to the hypocrisy that is so disgustingly rampant in both government and religion.

7. How about "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"
on the Currency? Instead of "In God We Trust"?

4. Stupid ass fundies.
They can post the 10 Commandments on their car, on their own front lawn, on their private business, in the home, and in their church.

So why the fuck do they need it EVERYWHERE?

Jesus H Christ. They don't even BELIEVE in the 10 Commandments. If they did, they'd be pushing laws banning adultery, not laws banning gay marriage.

Not to mention the fact that commandment #2 specifically forbids making 'graven images', and the 10 commandments monuments they usually want to erect are graven images.

6. I used to get this guy's newsletter back in the 1980s. Never knew
how I got on the list. He was ranting about television then and the smuttiness of it. Only problem was he REALLY seemed to enjoy talking about it. He would say how horrible it was and then give the whole script, never leaving out a word. You could almost see the slobber on the page. He obviously never missed an episode of anything either. The newsletter was like a little pornographic mailing. He probably had his blow up doll on his lap while he wrote the thing.

8. Today's Email (he's busy this week):
Help The Passion of the Christ win the best movie of the year award!

Vote today and then forward this on to your family and friends so they can vote! Voting ends Dec. 13.

Dear ,
Please help The Passion Of The Christ win the best movie of the year in CBS’s People’s Choice Awards! Cast your vote and then forward this to your friends and family and ask them to vote for The Passion Of The Christ.

PLEASE SAVE THIS EMAIL. AFTER YOU CAST YOUR BALLOT, PLEASE COME BACK TO THIS EMAIL AND FORWARD IT. BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE CBS WEBSITE IS SET UP, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FORWARD THIS INFORMATION FROM THE VOTING SITE. AFTER CASTING YOUR VOTE, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO RETURN TO THIS EMAIL IN ORDER TO FORWARD IT TO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

We are asking you to register so that we can keep an accurate tally of the number of votes AFA Online produces for the movie. As you know, Mel Gibson is not the favorite person in Hollywood because of his making this movie.

PLEASE, AFTER YOU HAVE VOTED, COME BACK TO THIS EMAIL AND FORWARD IT TO ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE TO VOTE AS POSSIBLE. THIS MOVIE DESERVES TO BE THE MOVIE (DRAMA CATEGORY) OF THE YEAR! WITH YOUR HELP IT WILL BE!

Help us make sure The Passion Of The Christ gets more votes than any other movie in history! Voting ends December 13. Please take action now.

Sincerely,
Don
