Everyone who has USAA insurance needs to call them!!!
They are compiling a list of complaints from people who are upset that they donated 1.8 million dollars to Republicans ans giving it to the President of USAA. A lot of people have already called. I told them that I hold them to a higher standard because they're mission is to help our troops, and supporting Bush is hurting our troops. I let them know that they have the right to donate to whomever they choose, but I have the right to spend my money in a way that I choose, that doesn't support sending our military into unjustified wars without the proper international support or proper equipment.
The number is 1-800-531-8111. You will need your policy number to talk to anyone of significance. Thanks!

1. This makes sense
Maybe my car insurance company will start paying people to drive drunk next.

5. I have USAA
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 02:46 PM by matcom
and your request is USELESS!

you know damned well that if you ever LEAVE USAA, you can NEVER get them BACK!

that is the crux of the problem. i got into them thanks to Dad (CIA employee) and would NEVER leave them.

they KNOW this and anyone who is lucky enough to get into this "club" and for whatever reason leaves, is an obvious idiot (for MANY reasons)

its not like i can turn them "off" like the Walmarts of the world.

6. Please provide more info
Where did you see 1.8 million? The only thing I can find regarding USAA and political contributions is the following link http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/committees/united_services_automobile_association_group_political_action_committee_usaa_group_pac_.asp

They seem to have formed a PAC with individual donors, but if you scroll down you'll see that Dems and Repubs were receipients.

7. They did give to both Rethugs and Dems.
Looks like more Rethugs, though. Perhaps because USAA is headquartered in Texas. I'm not ready to boycott them because I have very affordable insurance and some investments through them.

9. just did the numbers -
they gave 34 dems 77,850

they gave 125 repugs 401,625

or they gave 17% to the dems and a whopping 83% to the repukes.

they deserve a serious smack upside the head.

11. I don't think a letter would be out of line.
Decent language, simply expressing concern.

Yes, I've got USAA.
